Seth Lugo allowed six runs - three earned - and six hits with two walks and five strikeouts across three innings in a no-decision Wednesday at Colorado.

Lugo was outstanding in his first start of the season June 10, beating the Yankees while working six scoreless frames. He is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in two starts since, yielding eight earned runs over eight innings with 14 hits allowed, including three homers. His next scheduled outing is Monday night against Jameson Taillon and the Pirates to kick off a two-start week.

Adam Jones went 2-for-4 and scored a run during a win over the Nationals on Wednesday.

He doubled leading off the sixth inning and came around to score on a Danny Valencia sacrifice fly. The veteran outfielder is putting together another quality season at the dish, slashing .296/.320/.460 with 10 homers and 31 RBI in 69 games. His days as a base-stealer are long gone -- he hasn't even attempted to swipe a bag yet this year.
Jun 21 - 1:03 AM

Andrew Cashner tossed four scoreless innings against the Nationals before a long rain delay on Wednesday.

He didn't come back out after the rain delay and it likely cost him a win as the Orioles went on to shut out the Nationals. He surrendered three hits without issuing a walk and striking out two in the brief outing. Cashner's record holds at 2-8 with a 4.72 ERA. His 1.64 WHIP is the worst in the majors among qualified starters.
Jun 21 - 12:57 AM

Juan Soto went 1-for-3 and worked a walk against the Orioles in Wednesday's rain-soaked affair.

The teenager's one hit was a double. The return of Adam Eaton has not cut into Soto's playing time at all as the Nationals have opted to bench Michael Taylor rather than send their rookie phenom back to the minor leagues. Soto will stay in the lineup every day as long as he keeps hitting -- and he has never stopped hitting since the day he signed a pro contract. He has an amazing .326/.423/.596 slash line with six homers and 14 RBI in his first 27 major league games while most prospects his age are getting ready to begin their pro careers in short-season rookie ball.
Jun 21 - 12:52 AM

Anthony Rendon had two hits and a walk in four chances as his team fell to the Orioles on Wednesday.

One of the hits was a double but it was all for naught as the Nationals got shut out on a rainy night at home. The third baseman has hit fairly well this year but has yet to really make a splash in fantasy leagues so far. He has a .283 batting average with six homers and 27 RBI in 52 games. He has not stolen a base yet this year.
Jun 21 - 12:44 AM

Gio Gonzalez surrendered two runs in four innings and took a loss against the Orioles on Wednesday.

He served up a two-run homer to Mark Trumbo in the second inning and that was all it took for the loss. The game was interrupted by a long rain delay after the fourth inning and that was why Gonzalez' outing was so short. He falls to 6-4 with a nice 3.08 ERA and less-attractive 1.35 WHIP in 15 starts. He has 80 strikeouts and 34 walks in 84 2/3 innings.
Jun 21 - 12:39 AM

Mike Moustakas went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 loss against the Rangers.

Moose made things interesting with a solo homer off of Jake Diekman to slice the Texas lead in half. He snapped a nine-game homer drought with the solo shot. After smacking eight bombs in April, he managed four in May and just two so far in June. He is hitting just .206 (13-for-63) through 18 games in June to drop his average from .280 to .263.
Jun 21 - 12:38 AM

Brian Dozier went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored during Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

He doubled and scored in the fourth inning, then doubled again to drive in a run in the eighth. The second baseman's bat has taken a big step backward this year and he is going to have to pick up the pace in a hurry if he wants to match his stats from the last two seasons. He hit 42 home runs and stole 18 bases in his monster 2016 season but has just 10 homers and four steals to go with a .225 batting average as we near the halfway point of the 2018 season.
