Pedro Hernandez took a loss in his Rockies debut after giving up three runs in 5 2/3 innings Thursday against the Cubs.

Hernandez was last seen in the majors amassing a 6.83 ERA in 12 starts and two relief appearances with the Twins last year. He's not a fantasy option.

Yasmani Grandal was scratched from Thursday's lineup because of fluid buildup in his surgically-repaired right knee.

It's a bit of a red flag, but Padres manager Bud Black insists that Grandal will be fine. Consider the catcher day-to-day.
Jul 31 - 6:55 PM

Josh Rutledge came off the bench Thursday against the Cubs and popped out in his only at-bat.

Rutledge is still troubled by an illness, but he could be back in Friday's starting lineup.

Adam Eaton went 3-for-5 with two RBI, two runs scored and a steal Thursday as the White Sox beat the Tigers 7-4.

That's Eaton's third three-hit game in eight days. All told, he has 15 hits and eight runs scored during his eight-game hitting streak. Still, he's a better regular for the White Sox than he is a fantasy outfielder, what with his one homer, 29 RBI and 11 steals in 351 at-bats this year.
Jul 31 - 6:49 PM

John Danks gave up four runs in five innings Thursday in a no-decision versus the Tigers.

It couldn't have been a fun outing for Danks with the trade rumors hanging over his head. He remains with the White Sox for now, but he almost certainly will clear waivers, making him a possibility for an August deal.
Jul 31 - 6:43 PM

Joakim Soria continued to struggle as a Tiger on Thursday, taking a loss after giving up a run in an inning against the White Sox.

Soria has made three appearances for his new team, allowing runs in all of them, and his ERA has jumped from 2.70 to 3.86. Mixed leaguers might as well go ahead and drop him, as it certainly doesn't look like he'll be taking over for Joe Nathan in the ninth.
Jul 31 - 6:42 PM

Moises Sierra finished 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI against the Tigers on Thursday.

Sierra raised his average from .214 to .237 in his first start in eight days. He probably isn't looking at an expanded role down the stretch after the White Sox failed to trade an outfielder today.
Jul 31 - 6:40 PM

Jose Abreu reached all five times up Thursday, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a pair of intentional walks against the Tigers.

Abreu is batting .407 during his 20-game hitting streak. He's also up to 11 intentional walks, compared to 16 that were unintentional.
