Rays placed RHP Jumbo Diaz on the 10-day disabled list with right arm fatigue.

Diaz has struggled to a 5.49 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, and 17/12 K/BB ratio in 19 2/3 innings this season out of the Rays' bullpen. The big right-hander could be shelved for a while.
May 25 - 9:46 AM

Braves recalled RHP Matt Wisler from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Wisler will work in long relief for Atlanta. The right-hander holds a 5.02 career ERA in 270 2/3 innings at the major league level, including a 12.60 ERA in five innings this year.
May 25 - 9:41 AM

Braves designated RHP Josh Collmenter for assignment.

Collmenter allowed seven runs on six hits, including three homers, in the 10th inning of Wednesday night's loss to the Pirates. That historically bad outing ballooned his season ERA from 5.63 to 9.00. Matt Wisler is taking his spot in the Braves' bullpen Thursday.
May 25 - 9:38 AM

Thursday's game between the Yankees and Royals has been postponed due to rain in New York.

This one got called super early because the forecast calls for stormy conditions throughout the afternoon at Yankee Stadium. Masahiro Tanaka was scheduled to face off against Miguel Almonte in what would have been Almonte's first career major league start. The game will be made up September 25.
May 25 - 9:18 AM

Antonio Bastardo (quad) is nearing a minor league rehab assignment.

Bastardo threw an inning in an extended spring training game Tuesday and will do the same thing on Thursday before reporting to one of the Pirates' minor league affiliates over the weekend. The lefty reliever has been on the disabled list since April 25 because of a left quad strain. Assuming all goes well, he should be ready to return to the Pittsburgh bullpen the first week of June.
May 25 - 9:13 AM

Josh Lindblom (side) threw a successful bullpen session on Wednesday afternoon.

It sounds like Lindblom will be ready for activation from the 10-day disabled list when first eligible next Tuesday, but he might be sent back to Triple-A Indianapolis soon after. The 29-year-old right-hander has posted a 7.84 ERA and 2.03 WHIP in 10 1/3 innings this season at the major league level.
May 25 - 9:10 AM

Gregory Polanco (hamstring) ran the bases Wednesday at SunTrust Park in Atlanta.

Polanco will meet with manager Clint Hurdle and the Pirates' medical staff on Thursday to determine whether he is ready to be activated from the disabled list. "Early responses have been positive," head trainer Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday. "He feels really good right now." Polanco has been on the 10-day disabled list since May 17, retroactive to May 15, with a strained left hamstring.
May 25 - 9:06 AM

Denard Span (hand) went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in his return to the Giants' lineup Wednesday.

Span missed a couple of games due to inflammation in his left hand. It was never a major concern. The veteran outfielder is batting .255/.291/.418 with nine RBI and nine runs scored in 24 games this season for San Francisco.
