Matt Chapman (knee) won't be activated from the disabled list until next week.

Chapman has been released from the hospital and will be back with the A's doing baseball activities on Friday. He's been battling an infection in his left knee.

The Athletics haven't decided yet when Jharel Cotton (blister) will make his next start.

Cotton exited his outing last Friday with a blister on his right thumb. It sounds like he'll either start Thursday in Houston or Friday at home versus the Braves, but we should know for sure in a day or two.

Chris Bassitt (elbow) will resume his rehab assignment with High-A Stockton on Wednesday.

Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Bassitt had to be pulled off his rehab assignment a little over a month ago after experiencing fatigue. He'll need a good number of rehab appearances before being an option for the A's.

Danny Valencia (wrist) is back in the Mariners' lineup Tuesday.

Valencia missed a couple games with a sore right wrist. He's at first base and hitting seventh.
Jun 27 - 6:12 PM

Ben Gamel (groin) is back in the Mariners' lineup Tuesday.

Gamel sat out Sunday with a minor groin strain, but he's ready to go for this one. He's in left field and batting second against Aaron Nola and the Phillies.
Jun 27 - 6:11 PM

Orioles released 1B/DH Jesus Montero.

Montero returned from a 50-game PED suspension to bat only .143/.176/.163 over 13 games for Triple-A Norfolk. The former top prospect is still just 27 and crushed the ball at the Triple-A level last season, so someone will give him a shot.
Jun 27 - 6:07 PM

Rays signed first-round pick 1B/LHP Brendan McKay.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times hears that McKay's signing bonus will be for just over $7 million, which is right around $1 million more than the assigned slot value of the No. 4 overall pick of $6.1536 million. The Rays plan to let the former Louisville star play both first base and pitch in pro ball for the time being.
Jun 27 - 6:04 PM

Cameron Maybin is not in the Angels' lineup Tuesday.

Albert Pujols isn't playing, either, as the Halos have a pretty weak-looking order against Kenta Maeda and the Dodgers. Eric Young Jr. is in center field and Luis Valbuena is at first base.
