Chris Stewart (groin) is scheduled to catch back-to-back nine-inning games later this week.

The Pirates are hoping that Stewart can demonstrate that he's over his recent groin strain. He's slated to serve as Francisco Cervelli's primary backup.

Padres optioned RHP Kevin Quakenbush to Triple-A El Paso; reassigned C Tony Cruz, RHP Carlos Fisher, and INFs Jamie Romak and Brett Wallace to minor league camp.

Quackenbush was tagged for 11 runs on 14 hits and seven walks over 10 1/3 innings this spring. He'll try to earn his way back to the Padres' bullpen.

Enrique Hernandez (wrist) will try to hit on Thursday.

Hernandez was hit on the right wrist by a pitch on Tuesday, but fortunately X-rays came back negative. He's understandably a bit sore right now, but there's still a couple of days for him to prove his health before the start of the regular season.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Corey Seager (oblique) is expected to start in Saturday's exhibition game against the Angels.

Seager hasn’t played in a major league game since March 3 due to an oblique issue, but he has been getting work on the minor league side in recent days. He's slated to play in another minor league game on Wednesday. The Dodgers have been careful with their prized shortstop, but all signs are pointing to him being ready for the opener.

Joey Wendle (shoulder) will stay behind in extended spring training.

Wendle has been dealing with a sore shoulder for most of the month and will receive a cortisone shot later this week. He's set to open the year on the 10-day disabled list.
Mar 29 - 1:22 PM

Rajai Davis was scratched from Wednesday's Cactus League lineup because of "logistical reasons."

In other words, it wasn't injury-related. Nothing to see here. Davis is projected to serve as the regular center fielder for the A's this year and should deliver plenty of value to fantasy owners with his speed.
Mar 29 - 1:20 PM

Ehire Adrianza (oblique) is expected to begin the season on the disabled list.

As expected. Adrianza, who was claimed off waivers from the Brewers in February, suffered a right oblique strain during Saturday's game. It's a tricky injury, so he's going to need some downtime.
Mar 29 - 1:17 PM

Carter Capps (elbow) will begin the season on the 10-day disabled list.

Capps is making his way back from Tommy John surgery and was shaky in his Cactus League debut on Monday, so it doesn't make sense to push things. He could be ready relatively soon.
