Cardinals optioned INF Dean Anna to Triple-A Memphis.

The 28-year-old was expected to secure a reserve infielder job on the team's Opening Day roster, but hit a paltry .200 (4-for-20) with no homers and three RBI in Grapefruit League play. He'll function as organizational depth at Triple-A, and should be called upon at some point during the season.

Jung Ho Kang delivered a two-run homer and an RBI single in the Pirates' 4-2 win over the Braves on Sunday.

The homer was Kang's first since March 3, when he took Marco Estrada deep in his second at-bat of the spring. The Pirates will carry him as a backup at shortstop and second base. He'll also likely add third base to his arsenal as time goes on.

Stolmy Pimentel got the start against the Braves on Sunday and threw two scoreless innings.

With Jeff Locke, Radhames Liz and Arquimedes Caminero all also out of options and likely in line for bullpen spots, Pimentel might find himself on waivers later this week. He'd almost certainly be picked up by a team looking for an arm with upside, but the Pirates have enough depth that they can afford to move on. The rest of their options are all better bets to help the team this year.

Shelby Miller allowed just one run and one hit through six innings Sunday against the Pirates.

Miller opened the spring with a 108.00 ERA, so getting all of the way down to his current 3.44 is quite an accomplishment. He's allowed three runs over 18 innings in his last four starts.

Yankees reassigned LHP Jacob Lindgren, RHP Nick Rumbelow, Cs Francisco Arcia and Kyle Higashioka, OF Slade Heathcott, INFs Cole Figueroa and Jonathan Galvez to minor league camp.

Lingren, a 22-year-old left-hander, posted a 1.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 10/3 K/BB ratio over 7 1/3 innings in Grapefruit League play and made a strong push to be included in the team's Opening Day bullpen. He should make his big league debut at some point during the upcoming season.
Mar 29 - 5:28 PM

Yankees optioned OF Ramon Flores to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The 23-year-old outfielder struggled in Grapefruit League play, slashing .206/.270/.412 with a pair of homers and seven RBI in 34 at-bats. He could make his big league debut at some point during the 2015 campaign.

Oswaldo Arcia homered and doubled in the Twins' 6-5 win over the Orioles split-squad Sunday.

Any chance of the Twins doing something crazy and demoting Arcia has likely vanished with him going 5-for-10 with three extra-base hits in his last three games. He still figures to hit two or three spots too low in the Twins order, but that can be fixed later.
Mar 29 - 5:23 PM

Mike Pelfrey pitched a perfect inning Sunday in his first appearance since being shifted to the pen.

It's not surprising Pelfrey was upset about his move to the pen, given that it seemed he'd get every shot to keep his rotation spot and he pitched effectively, with a 1.32 ERA this spring. However, he has a much better shot of being useful to the Twins as a reliever than he did as a starter. Hopefully, he embraces the switch in time.
