According to Max Wildstein of Outside Pitch MLB, the Yankees are leaning towards using David Phelps to fulfill the void left by Ivan Nova in the starting rotation.

Wildstein cites prior experience as one of the determining factors behind the decision. The 27-year-old right-hander posted a 3.81 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 79/35 K/BB ratio over 86 2/3 innings between the rotation and the bullpen in 2013. He remains an uninspiring fantasy option.

J.J. Hardy was removed from Sunday night's game against the Red Sox due to a strained right hamstring.

He grabbed at the back of the hamstring while running to first base. He's being considered day-to-day and shouldn't require a trip to the disabled list.
Apr 20 - 10:00 PM

Ryan Howard went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's 10-9 win over the Rockies.

The game was an absolute slugfest, and Howard provided plenty of punch. The first baseman hit a two-run homer in the third inning before legging out his first triple of the season in the sixth inning. He finished with three runs scored in the game. It was Howard's first four-hit game since July 30, 2011.
Apr 20 - 9:44 PM

Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI in Sunday's loss to the Phillies.

Morneau got it done in a number of different ways, singling in a run in the first inning, producing an RBI groundout in the third and lifting a sacrifice fly in the fifth before blasting a two-run homer in the seventh. He's been on an absolute tear lately, mashing three home runs and collecting 12 RBI during a five-game hitting streak. He's up to .344 with a .981 OPS for the season.
Apr 20 - 9:36 PM

Jimmy Rollins went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a win over the Rockies on Sunday.

Rollins' strong April continues, as he hit his third home run in the first inning of Sunday's game. It was the beginning of a long night for pitchers, as the two teams combined for 30 hits and 19 runs. Rollins drove in two of those runs and scored two more, giving him 10 runs scored and 13 RBI for the year.
Apr 20 - 9:30 PM

Troy Tulowitzki went 3-for-3 with two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Phillies.

Tulo was on base five times, walking twice, doubling twice and scoring two runs. The shortstop has nearly twice as many walks (13) as strikeouts (7) thus far this season, and he's slashing a ridiculous .393/.493/.661 through 18 games. He's in the top five in batting average, runs scored, walks, slugging percentage and OPS in the National League.
Apr 20 - 9:25 PM

Roberto Hernandez allowed six runs on nine hits over four innings of a no-decision against the Rockies on Sunday.

Hernandez had a 3.86 ERA going into the start and a 5.75 ERA afterwards. The best part of the day for Hernandez was the fact that the Phillies came back to win the game, saving the right-hander from taking his first loss. A matchup with the struggling Diamondbacks offense Friday could be the cure to what ails Hernandez.
Apr 20 - 9:19 PM

Juan Nicasio allowed five runs -- four earned -- on seven hits in a no-decision against the Phillies on Sunday.

Nicasio served up home runs to Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard among his seven hits allowed. He's alternated good and bad starts thus far, owning a 4.30 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through four starts. He'll face another tough test Saturday against the Dodgers.
