Dodgers recalled RHP Casey Fien from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The right-hander is active and in uniform for Saturday's game against the Mets. He's taking the roster spot of Julio Urias who was optioned back to Triple-A on Saturday. Fien registered a 7.90 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 12/3 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings before he was cut by the Twins earlier in the season.

Rangers optioned INF/OF Joey Gallo to Triple-A Round Rock.

Gallo was with the club for just a couple of days as an extra bat, and he saw just one at-bat during his stay. He'll head back to Round Rock where he'll undoubtedly crush Triple-A pitching until he is needed once more.

Rangers activated RHP Yu Darvish from the 15-day disabled list.

He'll make his long anticipated season debut on Saturday against the Pirates. Darvish, who looked electric on his minor league rehab assignment, will be limited to 85-90 pitches in his first outing.

Denard Span was scratched from the Giants starting lineup on Saturday due to a bruised right hip.

Span is still dealing with a bit of soreness from crashing into the outfield wall earlier in the week, so manager Bruce Bochy felt he could get him a day off now that Hunter Pence had returned. Span should be back in the lineup on Sunday.

Mets acquired 1B James Loney from the Padres for cash considerations.

Loney is expected to platoon at first base with Wilmer Flores. As the strong side of the platoon, he should see enough at-bats to be relevant in NL-only formats, though even at his peak he was never much of a mixed league commodity. He was hitting well at Triple-A El Paso though, slashing .342/.373/.424 with a pair of homers and 28 RBI.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Saturday that he doesn't expect Mark Teixeira (neck) to return on Sunday.

While he won't be ready on Sunday, Teixeira is inching close to a return and could rejoin the Bombers lineup on Monday. He has been sidelined since experiencing renewed discomfort in his neck on Wednesday.
May 28 - 2:47 PM

Corey Knebel is scheduled to make two rehab appearances with High-A Brevard and two appearances with Triple-A Colorado Springs before he returns to the Brewers bullpen.

The right-hander is expected to work in a setup role upon his return to the Brewers. He registered a 3.22 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 58/17 K/BB ratio over 50 1/3 innings with the big league club in 2015.
May 28 - 2:23 PM

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that the Mets have acquired James Loney from the Padres.

No word yet on the return, but it isn't expected to be much. With Lucas Duda sidelined and a gaping hole offensively at first base, Loney will have the chance to step right in as the club's everyday first baseman. The 32-year-old was hitting .342/.373/.424 with two homers and 28 RBI in 158 at-bats at Triple-A El Paso.
