ESPN Panthers reporter David Newton believes Corey Brown (shoulder) could be on the roster bubble.

Brown will not play in the third preseason game because of a shoulder injury. Newton does not believe the injury will necessarily cost him a spot, but it could if Kevin Norwood or Stephen Hill show out Friday night. Newton adds Brown does not bring anything different to the table than Damiere Byrd, who the Panthers seemed to be enamored with.

Browns CB Tramon Williams (toe) will not play Friday night against the Bucs.

Williams suffered a toe injury during practice Wednesday. It is unclear if he is dealing with a serious injury, but any missed time is a blow for a player trying to reclaim his job. Jamar Taylor could lock up the starting job opposite Joe Haden with a strong showing Friday night.

Greg Mancz will open the season as the Texans' starting center.

He's locked in with second-round pick Nick Martin's season over. A second-year UDFA out of Toledo, Mancz was College Football Focus' highest-graded center in the nation as a senior and stands a sturdy 6-foot-5 and 301 pounds. He went undrafted in 2015 after suffering a shoulder injury at the East-West Shrine Game. For what it's worth, Pro Football Focus has graded Mancz solidly in pass protection but poorly in run blocking through 58 preseason snaps.

Rob Gronkowski will not play against the Panthers Friday night.

Gronk missed nine days after "pulling up lame" during practice, but he returned to the field Wednesday. The Patriots are just using caution by holding him out Friday night. Gronk remains the clear-cut No. 1 tight end.

Broncos TE Garrett Graham is in danger of losing his roster spot.

A replacement-level talent, Graham's history with Gary Kubiak might not save him after missing almost all of camp with a shoulder injury. Virgil Green has stepped forward as the Broncos' primary receiving tight end, while John Phillips is a better blocker. 2015 third-round pick Jeff Heuerman will also make the team.

Greg Olsen (back) will not play in the Panthers' third preseason game Friday night.

Olsen missed several days of practice with back spasms, but he returned to the field Monday. The Panthers are just using caution by holding him out Friday night, and there is no indication he is dealing with a long-term injury. Olsen is safe to draft as a top-3 tight end.

Dolphins DE Terrence Fede has a sprained MCL.

Fede suffered the injury Thursday night against the Falcons. Sprained knees usually carry a two-to-four week timetable, making him extremely questionable for the start of the regular season. Fede should fill a rotational role when healthy.

Dolphins WLB Jelani Jenkins will undergo a knee scope.

The Fins also lost rotational DE Terrence Fede to a sprained MCL. Jenkins is coming off a 71-tackle season across 13 starts. He is regarded as Miami's top coverage linebacker. The Dolphins' defensive back seven is a total mess.
