Giants placed S Nat Berhe (calf) on season-ending injured reserve.
Berhe entered camp the favorite to start at free safety, but a torn muscle in his calf derailed his preseason. He underwent surgery last week.
Packers waived G/T Matt Rotheram, DB Ryan White and S Jean Fanor.
A undrafted rookie out of Pitt, Rotheram earned praise for his work this offseason. He is likely headed to the practice squad.
WSB Atlanta's Zach Klein reports the Falcons are working on an injury settlement with RB Antone Smith (hamstring).
They will place him on injured reserve if the two sides cannot work out a deal. Smith made several big plays last season but could never carve out a consistent role. This is good news for Terron Ward's roster status.
Jets released OLB Jason Babin.
The moves saves the Jets $1.5 million against the cap. Babin recorded just two sacks across 16 games for New York last season and was behind Quinton Coples on the depth chart. Sophomore Trevor Reilly's roster spot should now be safe.
Giants released LB Ashlee Palmer.
Palmer was signed in late August as insurance for Jon Beason (knee). His release likely means the Giants feel good about Beason's status for Week 1.
Giants released WR James Jones.
Jones was brought in as veteran help in July, but he was unable to beat out Corey Washington and rookie Geremy Davis. Jones should be heavily linked to the Packers following his release. Jones spent his first seven seasons in Green Bay, and the Packers are in desperate need of veteran depth.
Jets released ILB Joe Mays.
Mays was given $60,000 guaranteed in April and would have been owed a $20,000 roster bonus if he was on the roster Week 1. A two-down thumper entering his age-30 season, Mays could struggle to find a new home. New York also waived S Durrell Eskridge.
Colts placed DT Arthur Jones (ankle) on season-ending injured reserve.
Jones underwent surgery to repair torn ligaments in his ankle on Friday. Jones has played just nine games since signing a five-year, $33 million contract last offseason. The Colts will rely on rookie DL Henry Anderson to step up in Jones' place.
