Mariners prospect OF Tyler O’Neill had a big game Monday for High-A Bakersfield, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and four RBI.

O’Neill now has 20 home runs and 13 doubles in 70 games this season to go along with a .255/.296/.529 batting line and 56 RBI. He’s also batting .500 (1.905 OPS) with four home runs and three doubles in his last five games. The 20-year-old’s plus raw power has translated nicely in the hitter-friendly California League this season, but his 92 strikeouts (31.3%) against 14 walks (4.8%) highlights his lack of plate discipline and aggressive approach.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Royals are set to acquire Ben Zobrist from the Athletics.

Just in case it wasn't already clear after the Johnny Cueto deal, the Royals are going for it. Zobrist was a great fit for any contender because of his versatility and he could play second base or left field for Kansas City. The 34-year-old is batting .268/.354/.447 with six home runs and 33 RBI over 67 games this season.

Athletics prospect 1B Matt Olson went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and five RBI on Monday for Double-A Midland.

He’s batting .237/.376/.417 with 12 home runs, 25 doubles, 52 RBI and a 103/76 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 96 games in the Texas League. Olson has been on a power surge of late, as he now has four home runs in his last five games after hitting seven over his previous 91 contests at Midland. After clubbing 37 long balls last season at High-A Stockton and tallying 23 in his full-season debut the previous year, Olson’s sharp drop-off in home runs this season has been a disappointment. However, the good news is he’s continued to take walks (76) and reach base at a high clip (.376) despite facing older and more advanced pitching at the Double-A level.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com writes that Michael Foltynewicz will likely be called up from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Wednesday against the Orioles.

He'll replace the injured Manny Banuelos (elbow) in the starting rotation, at least on a temporary basis. Foltynewicz owns a 5.29 ERA over nine starts and three relief appearances this season and can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Braves placed LHP Manny Banuelos on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 25, with left elbow inflammation.

Banuelos allowed a career-high four runs over five innings last Friday against the Cardinals and apparently didn't come out of the start feeling good. Of course, Banuelos has had Tommy John surgery in the past, so the Braves aren't taking any chances. David Wright (back) took grounders at third base Tuesday at Citi Field.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said last Thursday that the hope was that Wright would be able to do baseball activities this week in New York and so far things are going to according to plan. It's unclear what the next step will be and obviously he has a long way to go before beginning a rehab assignment, but it's a step in the right direction.

Rays prospect SS Daniel Robertson (hand) started a rehab assignment in the Gulf Coast League on Tuesday.

He has been on the disabled list since early June after having his hamate bone in his left hand surgically removed. Prior to the injury, Robertson was batting .272/.347/.436 with 25 extra-base hits and 32 RBI through 49 games at Double-A Montgomery. The 21-year-old doesn’t come with the hype like some of the other shortstop prospects in the minor leagues, but he has the upside of an above-average everyday player thanks to his contact and on-base skills, strong defense and high baseball IQ. Robertson should be an option for the Rays at some point in 2016.

Athletics recalled RHP R.J. Alvarez from Triple-A Nashville.

He'll replace Tyler Clippard in Oakland's bullpen. Alvarez has struck out 16 batters in nine inning with the A's this season, but he has also allowed 14 runs (13 earned) on 13 hits and six walks, including four home runs.
