Diamondbacks recalled RHP Edwin Escobar from Triple-A Reno.

He will debut for the Diamondbacks on Monday against the Astros. Escobar posted underwhelming numbers in the minor leagues and should be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Diamondbacks optioned OF Peter O'Brien to Triple-A Reno.

He was only with the club for a few days as an extra bench bat while the club sorted out their rotation. Fantasy owners will have to wait until there's an opening for everyday at-bats before he'll have any mixed leagues value.

Rich Hill was diagnosed with a mild groin strain after he was forced to leave Sunday's start against the Tigers.

Hill was forced to make an early exit from another strong start on Sunday. A's manager Bob Melvin was unsure if Hill would be able to make his next start, but it doesn't sound as though a trip to the disabled list will be warranted.
May 29 - 8:01 PM

Kevin Jepsen allowed two runs but was able to earn his sixth save Sunday against the Mariners.

Nelson Cruz hit a leadoff single in the bottom of the ninth inning with the host Mariners trailing 5-2, but that quickly got erased when Kyle Seager grounded into a double play. Adam Lind followed with a two-out single and then Franklin Gutierrez socked a two-out, two-run homer to deep center. Jepsen was left in to face pinch-hitter Dae Ho Lee and struck him out on three pitches to end the growing threat. He has an unsightly 5.91 ERA for the year, but Jepsen's job seems safe for now.
May 29 - 7:17 PM

Ricky Nolasco held the Mariners to two earned runs in six innings Sunday for his second win.

It was the best start in five weeks for Nolasco, who dropped his ERA from 5.54 to 5.28. He struck out seven, issued only one walk, and only gave up three hits. Nolasco will try to stay in this groove for his next scheduled start at home against the Rays. He can't be trusted yet in standard mixed fantasy leagues.
May 29 - 7:13 PM

Taijuan Walker yielded five earned runs over 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Twins.

It looked like a great matchup on paper for Walker -- a home start versus the light-hitting Twins -- but Robbie Grossman, Joe Mauer, and Miguel Sano all homered against the young right-hander as he fell to 2-5 on the year. Walker does still have a shiny 3.31 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 50/11 K/BB ratio in 54 1/3 innings, and he should be a safe start next time out in Arlington, Texas.
May 29 - 7:11 PM

Sean Doolittle notched his third save of the season Sunday in the A's 4-2 win over the Tigers.

Doolittle needed just eight pitches in a perfect ninth, retiring Nick Castellanos, Justin Upton, and Cameron Maybin in order. Athletics closer Ryan Madson worked the eighth inning Sunday against J.D. Martinez, Miguel Cabrera, and Victor Martinez, also retiring three batters in order for a perfect frame.
May 29 - 7:08 PM

Mike Pelfrey allowed three (unearned) runs in 5 2/3 innings Sunday as the Tigers fell to the A's.

Pelfrey was cruising until the bottom of the sixth, when Yonder Alonso reached on an Ian Kinsler fielding error and plated Danny Valencia. Billy Butler would then crank a two-run single to right. Pelfrey now stands 0-5 with a 4.96 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in 52 2/3 innings (10 starts) this season. He should not be rostered in a standard mixed fantasy league.
