Alshon Jeffery (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

He'll be fine for Sunday's Week 4 tilt with the Bears. The targets simply haven't been there for jeffery this season with the Bears spreading the ball around more now that Zach Miller, Kevin White, and Eddie Royal are healthy.

Jay Cutler (thumb) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Coach John Fox has continued to label Cutler as day to day. We're unlikely to get a legitimate update on Cutler before the end of the week. The tentative expectation is that Brian Hoyer will get another start against the Lions.

Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring) is not practicing Wednesday.

He's not expected to play this week after going down early in Week 2. Jordan Howard will get the start, with Joique Bell and Raheem Mostert as backups.

Julio Jones (calf) is practicing Wednesday.

The Falcons went light on Wednesday coming off Monday night's win, but it's encouraging to see Jones out there the first day of the practice week. He'll look to rebound from his one-catch effort against the Panthers.

Virgil Green (calf) remained sidelined at Wednesday's practice.

If he can't go, Jeff Heuerman and John Phillips will again fill in.
Sep 28 - 2:10 PM

Julius Thomas (elbow) is not practicing Wednesday.

It's a new injury for Thomas. He played his normal snap count last week against the Ravens, so it could just be a minor thing. For now, we'd expect him to play Sunday against the Colts in London where he'd be a TE1.

Coach Chip Kelly said he remains "real confident" in Blaine Gabbert as the starter.

Gabbert is completing just 55.2 percent of his passes at 5.5 yards per attempt with a 3:3 TD:INT ratio. He simply isn't getting it done, as the 49ers have been rocked in two-straight games. Kelly said Colin Kaepernick will continue to be the No. 2 until he gets his body (gains weight) back to its 2013 form.

Coach Chip Kelly suggested Vance McDonald (hip) may not play Week 4 against the Cowboys.

McDonald exited Week 3 with the injury and was quickly ruled out. He isn't practicing on Wednesday. Kelly doesn't believe it's a long-term issue for McDonald. Garrett Celek and Blake Bell are the next men up.
