Jonathan Lucroy is absent from the Brewers' lineup Sunday.

It's a routine day off. Martin Maldonado is doing the catching.
May 1 - 10:38 AM

Curtis Granderson is not in the Mets' lineup Sunday.

Lucas Duda and Asdrubal Cabrera are also on the bench against Giants southpaw Madison Bumgarner. The Mets have Juan Lagares in right field, Eric Campbell at first base and Wilmer Flores at shortstop.

Danny Valencia (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Friday, the first day he's eligible.

Valencia will begin a three-game rehab assignment with High-A Stockton on Monday, playing third base twice and serving as a designated hitter once. Assuming all goes well, he'll be back with the A's next weekend in Baltimore. Valencia was off to a .294/.345/.353 start in his first 14 games before straining his hamstring.
May 1 - 10:21 AM

Desmond Jennings is not in the Rays' lineup Sunday.

It's the second time in the last three games that he's been benched in favor of Brandon Guyer. Jennings is hitting .081/.167/.135 over his last 10 games.
May 1 - 10:14 AM

Justin Smoak is not in the Blue Jays' lineup Sunday.

The Jays have Edwin Encarnacion at first base, Jose Bautista in the designated hitter spot and Ezequiel Carrera in right field. Smoak hit just .189/.375/.216 in April.
May 1 - 10:04 AM

Braves purchased the contract of INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Bonifacio was off to a .333/.384/.379 start at the plate with 10 steals for Gwinnett. The 31-year-old utility player will back up at a variety of positions.
May 1 - 9:39 AM

Braves optioned RHP Chris Withrow to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Withrow posted a 3.86 ERA and 4/5 K/BB ratio over seven relief innings with the big club. He'll get another shot eventually.
May 1 - 9:36 AM

John Lamb (back) allowed two runs over eight innings in his last rehab start with Triple-A Louisville.

Lamb hadn't gone more than three frames and was blasted for 12 runs in his first two rehab starts, so his last outing was quite a step up. He's slated to make his fourth rehab start for Louisville on Monday, although with Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) now injured and Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) having a setback, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Lamb rejoin the Reds' rotation for his next outing instead.
