Troy Tulowitzki (heel) will be reevaluated next week.

This will be his first follow-up since undergoing surgery on both heels earlier this month. Tulowitzki was placed on the 60-day DL and won't be eligible to return until the end of May. Aledmys Diaz has been filling in at shortstop for Toronto.

Charlie Morton pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out eight in the Astros' 9-2 drubbing of the Mariners on Thursday.

Morton settled for eight strikeouts today after coming through with 12 against the Rangers last time out, but it was another brilliant outing. He's gone without allowing an earned run three times in his four starts, leaving him 3-0 with a 0.72 ERA. We'll just have to see if this is the year he stays healthy; his career highs are 29 starts and 172 innings from way back in 2011.

Hunter Pence is not in the Giants' lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Pence is in the midst of a 3-for-29 dry spell and could probably use a night off to clear his head. Gregor Blanco will draw the start in left field and bat leadoff against D'Backs hurler Zack Greinke.
Apr 19 - 6:52 PM

Marco Gonzales was lifted after allowing three unearned runs in 4 2/3 innings Thursday against the Astros.

Gonzales struck out eight and his ERA shrunk today. Evan Gattis forgetting how many outs there were, resulting in a triple play in the fourth, was the highlight of the day for the Mariners. Gonzales has pitched a total of 16 2/3 innings in his four starts this year. He's out of options, so he probably isn't going anywhere right now. Still, the Mariners need more from him.

Jose Altuve went 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI and a walk in Thursday's rout of the Mariners.

Altuve is still looking for his first homer after hitting 24 each of the last two years, but he did double his season totals for doubles and RBI in this one. He's hitting his usual .342, though that comes with a .790 OPS instead of the .900+ we've grown accustomed to recently.
Apr 19 - 6:49 PM

Max Stassi went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and three runs scored Thursday against the Mariners.

Stassi is off to a nice 9-for-29 start with two homers as Brian McCann's backup. He's not going to keep this up, but the Astros have to feel pretty good about having him in the lineup against lefties right now.
Apr 19 - 6:47 PM

Taijuan Walker (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery in New York next Wednesday.

The operation will be performed by Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek. Assuming a normal timetable, Walker won't be ready to pitch again until midway through next season. His injury is a big blow to Arizona's starting rotation.
Apr 19 - 6:43 PM

Jackie Bradley is not in the Red Sox's lineup Thursday against the Angels.

Andrew Benintendi, who got the night off on Wednesday, will start in center field and bat second against Halos right-hander Nick Tropeano. Bradley has gotten off to a quiet start offensively, batting only .228 with one homer and three RBI this year.
