George Springer was scratched from the Astros starting lineup on Friday due to discomfort in his right knee.

Springer is being called day-to-day for the time being, but it wouldn't be terribly shocking to see the Astros play it safe and rest him the remainder of the weekend heading into the All-Star break.

Justin Ruggiano went 2-for-5 and drove home a pair of runs, including the game-winner in Friday's 5-4 triumph over the Braves.

Ruggiano delivered an RBI single in the third inning, then plated Arismendy Alcantara with an RBI knock in the ninth to deliver the Cubs the walk-off win. He has really picked up the pace offensively in recent weeks, and is now hitting .286/.358/.449 with 19 RBI on the season. His blend of power and speed make him a very attractive option as a fourth or fifth outfielder in deeper mixed leagues.
Jul 11 - 7:58 PM

Hector Rondon was handed his third blown save of the season on Friday after surrendering a run in the ninth inning against the Braves.

Tasked with protecting a one-run advantage, Rondon allowed a leadoff double to Jason Heyward to put himself in trouble. After battling back to get the next two outs, Christian Bethancourt delivered an RBI single to score Heyward and tie the game. The Cubs did manage to score in the bottom half of the inning to earn him a backdoor win. With as much as he's struggled lately, it wouldn't be surprising to see Neil Ramirez get the ball the next time the Cubs are facing a save situation.
Jul 11 - 7:28 PM

Jake Arrieta delivered another strong outing against the Braves on Friday, allowing three runs on four hits over 7 2/3 innings, but was denied his sixth victory of the season after Hector Rondon blew his lead in the ninth inning.

Arrieta punched out six on the afternoon while issuing three walks. He has been outstanding for the Cubs in the first half of the season, registering a 5-1 record, 1.95 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 85/22 K/BB ratio over 78 1/3 innings. He has been a tremendous find for fantasy owners who scoured for rotation help early in the year.
Jul 11 - 7:25 PM

Freddie Freeman went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI in a losing effort against the Cubs on Friday afternoon.

Freeman got the Braves on the board with an RBI groundout in the fourth inning, then doubled home another off Jake Arrieta in the sixth. He's having another terrific season at the dish, slashing .300/.388/.504 with 13 homers and 52 RBI.
Jul 11 - 7:20 PM

Jordan Schafer was a menace on the basepaths in Friday's loss to the Cubs, swiping three bases and scoring a run.

He finished the afternoon 0-for-1, with a pair of walks and a sacrifice. While he plays a tremendous center field and runs exceptionally well, he's hitting a troublesome .176/.253/.235 on the season to go along with his 14 stolen bases.
Jul 11 - 7:18 PM

Alex Wood struggled in a no-decision against the Cubs on Friday, surrendering four runs on five hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

The young southpaw did manage to rack up six strikeouts on the night while walking three. The Cubs pushed a pair of runs across against him in the third inning, then chased him by adding two more in the sixth. Even with the rough outing, he sports a solid 3.36 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 82/23 K/BB ratio through 85 2/3 innings on the season.
Jul 11 - 7:16 PM

Reds recalled INF/OF Donald Lutz from Triple-A Louisville.

Lutz will function in a utility role for the Reds while Skip Schumaker is sidelined with a concussion. The 25-year-old has appeared in seven games with the Reds already this season, going 1-for-13 with a pair of walks and a run scored. He can safely be avoided in all fantasy formats.
