Tim Federowicz (knee) will begin a rehab assignment around the All-Star break.

Working his way back from surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee, Federowicz will need most, if not all, of his 20-day rehab allotment. He could be an option for the Padres in early August.

Chad Qualls (neck) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Corpus Christi later this week.

He should only need one or two rehab appearances before being activated. Qualls is eligible to return on Friday after missing time with a pinched nerve in his neck.

Astros activated OF Jake Marisnick from the 15-day disabled list.

He's back in center field and hitting ninth Sunday. Marisnick missed a little over two weeks of action with a left hamstring strain.

Gregory Polanco is not in the Pirates' lineup Sunday.

It's rare to see Polanco sitting versus a righty, but Danny Salazar has fared a bit better against left-handed batters in his career. Josh Harrison is in right field Sunday, with Jung-Ho Kang handling third base.
Jul 5 - 12:12 PM

Jordan Walden (biceps) will throw a bullpen session on Monday.

Walden has been throwing on flat ground for a while now, but this will be his first time off a mound since going down with right biceps inflammation back in late April. The Cardinals are hoping he'll be ready for a rehab assignment around the All-Star break.

John Jaso - DH - Rays

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Sunday that John Jaso (wrist) could "possibly" rejoin the club in Kansas City early this week.

Jaso has batted .286/.348/.381 over six rehab games to this point. It's unclear whether he'd be ready to play regularly upon his activation, but the 31-year-old would figure to see regular starts in the designated hitter spot.
Jul 5 - 12:04 PM

Matt Wieters is not in the Orioles' lineup Sunday.

It's a simple day off. Caleb Joseph is catching while Wieters rests.
Jul 5 - 11:40 AM

Yordano Ventura (hand) is expected to skip his final rehab start and rejoin the Royals' rotation, likely on Thursday versus the Rays.

Ventura had been pegged to take the ball on Monday for Triple-A Omaha in a final tune-up, but it appears the club has decided he doesn't need that outing. "He's ready," manager Ned Yost said. Ventura has been on the shelf since mid-June with ulnar neuritis in his pitching hand.
