Chris Hogan (knee, ankle) expects to be ready for Week 1.

Hogan will be three weeks into his 2-4 week timetable for the start of the regular season. The Bills are expected to keep him despite his nondescript training camp. Hogan will back up the slot if cleared.

Redskins waived C Austin Reiter.

Reiter was the No. 222 overall pick of May's draft. A top-shelf athlete, he'll presumably be headed to the practice squad.

LeSean McCoy (hamstring) has vowed to be ready for Week 1.

McCoy made the proclamation in a text message to ESPN's Josina Anderson. He was more diplomatic following Friday's practice, saying "we'll see." Coach Rex Ryan has generally suggested McCoy will be ready to go against the Colts. Our first concrete clue will come with the Bills' first official injury report on Wednesday.

Coach Chuck Pagano didn't rule out OLB Robert Mathis (Achilles) playing Week 1.

Mathis hasn’t had any setbacks since getting activated off active/PUP in late August. He’s highly questionable for the opener, but remains on track for an early-season return.
Sep 4 - 4:41 PM

Dolphins released QB Josh Freeman.

Freeman was previously released in July before being re-signed four days later. The former first-rounder's downward spiral continued unabated this summer, as he completed just 23-of-48 preseason passes (47.9 percent). It's been a bizarre career for the now 27-year-old quarterback. Freeman might not get another chance.
Sep 4 - 4:39 PM

Falcons released QB T.J. Yates.

Coupled with Rex Grossman's release, it means the Falcons are going with Sean Renfree behind Matt Ryan. Yates attempted four passes as Ryan's backup last season. Yates shot to fame with his 2011-12 playoff heroics, but never developed. Now 28, he's unlikely to latch on as anyone's No. 3 quarterback.
Sep 4 - 4:29 PM

Falcons released QB Rex Grossman.

The worst quarterback to start a Super Bowl this century hasn't appeared in a game since 2011.
Sep 4 - 4:19 PM

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt says his running back usage will be game-plan specific.

Whiz doesn't like his running back corps, so he's trying to become an amateur Bill Belichick. Bishop Sankey will presumably be the lead back when the Titans try to go uptempo, and David Cobb when Whiz decides he needs to ground-and-pound. Dexter McCluster and Antonio Andrews will mix in at miscellaneous intervals. We (slightly) prefer Cobb to Sankey in fantasy, but neither is more than an RB3.
