Joe Musgrove will start the fourth game of the season for the Astros.

Mike Fiers will get the fifth game, with the two hurlers preceded by Dallas Keuchel, Lance McCullers and Charlie Morton. Collin McHugh will get a late start to the season after battling through a "dead arm" phase this spring, but he'll likely bump either Musgrove or Fiers from the rotation sometime in April.

Reds pitching prospect Nick Travieso (shoulder) has yet to resume throwing.

Travieso was given a cortisone shot in his biceps to help combat some shoulder soreness that he's dealt with since the beginning of camp. He'll be part of Triple-A Louisville's rotation once he's healthy.

Dilson Herrera (shoulder) has been fielding grounders and throwing across the diamond for the last several days.

Herrera hasn't played the field at all this spring due to nagging shoulder soreness, although it appears he's making progress. He'll begin the season at Triple-A Louisville but could eventually find his way into the Reds lineup if/when they trade Zack Cozart.

Drew Storen's fastball has been clocked in the 88-90 mph range this spring.

Storen's velocity was down to 92 mph last season when he struggled to a 5.23 ERA, and it's dropped even more this spring. He's also posted a 15.88 ERA in six Cactus League appearances. It's possible he'll regain some zip on the heater once the regular season begins, but until that happens it's hard to take Storen seriously as a sleeper for saves.

Raul Alcantara is slated to open the season as the Athletics' fifth starter.

Andrew Triggs has captured the No. 4 spot and will be preceded by Kendall Graveman, Sean Manaea and Jharel Cotton. Jesse Hahn has struggled this spring and is headed to Triple-A Nashville to begin the season. Alcantara holds a 4.50 ERA with just nine strikeouts over 20 innings this spring, but he's out of options so it's not a surprise that he's getting a spot. Both he and Triggs will be on the chopping block when Sonny Gray (lat) is ready, which should be sometime in April.

Adeiny Hechavarria was scratched from Sunday's lineup with minor back soreness.

Hechavarria is still taking batting practice Sunday and is supposed to play Monday. He'll be fine.

Stephen Strasburg has been named the Nationals' Opening Day starter.

It's a no-brainer with Max Scherzer not quite ready for the opener (Scherzer is in line to start the Nats' third game). Strasburg will be making his fourth Opening Day start. He posted a 3.60 ERA and 183/44 K/BB ratio over 147 2/3 innings for the Nationals last season.
Mar 26 - 10:26 AM

Phillies released LHP Sean Burnett.

Burnett requested his release after evidently being told he wasn't going to crack the Opening Day roster. The veteran southpaw held a 2.00 ERA this spring, although he didn't record a single strikeout over nine innings. Burnett should be able to find another job quickly, but he might have to spend some time in the minors.
