NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Martavis Bryant's four-game suspension is for "multiple failed marijuana tests."

Per Rapsheet, Bryant's appeal is in "the latter stages." Bryant now has all the makings of a boom-or-bust WR3, especially since Markus Wheaton has supposedly looked ready to break out as the Steelers' No. 2 receiver. Bryant's touchdown upside makes him worth a later-round draft pick and stash in re-draft leagues, but it can't be assumed he'll simply pick up where he left off in his impressive rookie campaign.

Robert Griffin III (concussion) has been officially cleared for Saturday's preseason game.

The embattled starter could see upwards of a half of action against the Ravens. Griffin remains Washington's No. 1, but his grip will grow extremely tenuous if Saturday goes as poorly as last week's game did.

Giants S Nat Berhe will undergo calf surgery on Friday, and is out indefinitely.

NorthJersey.com reports Berhe will either be sent to I.R., or I.R./return. Berhe had a bead on a starting job opposite Landon Collins before his calf started acting up in OTAs. The Giants are now left with Brandon Meriweather, Jeromy Miles, Cooper Taylor and fifth-rounder Mykkele Thompson behind first-rounder Collins. It's a sorry unit.

The Packers are expected to rest their starters in Saturday's preseason game against the Eagles.

It means we probably won't get a look at new starting receiver Davante Adams. The Pack are packing it in after last Sunday's game from hell, where Jordy Nelson (ACL) was lost for the season. Several linemen are at less than 100 percent, which would have exposed Aaron Rodgers to unnecessary risk. If Adams indeed isn't playing, he finishes his preseason with three catches for 17 yards. That presupposes he sits out the finale, of course.

NFL.com reports Chris Johnson is expected to make the Cardinals' 53-man roster.

Andie Hagemann reports CJ?K has "made a positive impression on his new teammates overall," and that he'll eventually "share the workload behind starter Andre Ellington." Johnson does seem likely to make the roster as veteran insurance for a young, injury prone running back corps, but David Johnson could send CJ to No. 3 status with another big game this weekend. CJ is missing Arizona's regular season dress rehearsal with a hamstring injury.

ESPN Steelers reporter Jeremy Fowler is expecting a breakout year from Markus Wheaton.

Wheaton was tabbed for a breakout last season, but instead limped to a 53/644/2 line as he was soundly out-played by Martavis Bryant. With Bryant suspended for the season's first four games, however, Wheaton is getting another shot with the first-team offense. Wheaton has been getting puffed up by his teammates and local media all summer. He's worth a WR4 flier.

Patriots released DT Antonio Johnson.

It could be the end of the line for the 30-year-old Johnson, who missed all of 2014 with a knee injury.

The Cardinals may keep only two quarterbacks.

It means Logan Thomas' roster spot is in grave danger. Struggling through the preseason (9-of-19 for 107 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception), Thomas has been woefully overmatched by the NFL game, even in practice, since being the No. 120 overall pick of last year's draft.
