Astros purchased the contract of INF Alex Bregman from Triple-A Fresno.

Bregman will join the Astros ahead of Monday night's series opener against the visiting Yankees. The 22-year-old has been one of the best hitters in the minors this season, boasting a .306/.406/.580 batting line with 20 home runs and 61 RBI in 80 games between Double-A and Triple-A. He can also steal bases. Bregman should see everyday-like action between third base and left field and needs to be owned in all standard fantasy leagues.

Domingo Santana (elbow) was scratched from a rehab game Monday at Low-A Wisconsin.

Santana is still experiencing tenderness in his right elbow and forearm, which obviously isn't a great sign. He's been on the disabled list since June 10.

Athletics recalled INF/OF Max Muncy from Triple-A Nashville.

Muncy is batting .257/.366/.314 in 41 plate appearances this season at the major league level. The 25-year-old infielder is doubtful to hold fantasy relevance, even if trades open up playing time for him.

According to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi, the Rangers are expressing interest in Vincent Velasquez.

Velasquez is a 24-year-old with five years of contractual control and he's been having a very good season for Philadelphia, so the asking price is going to be astronomical. The right-hander holds a 3.34 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 91 2/3 innings this year. Texas has been connected to just about every pitcher in baseball.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Yankees and Cubs have agreed to an Aroldis Chapman trade.

New York will get shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres, outfield prospect Billy McKinney, right-hander Adam Warren, and one other player. The trade feels like a huge score for the Yankees, but this is the go-for-it of all go-for-its with the Cubs, who haven't won a World Series title since 1908. Chapman will take over at closer in Chicago, with Hector Rondon shifting to a setup role. The flame-throwing 28-year-old left-hander owns a 2.16 ERA and 590 strikeouts in 350 1/3 career major league innings.
Jul 25 - 12:00 PM

Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports the Marlins have interest in Seattle starter Wade Miley.

Miley struggled in 2014 with the Red Sox and has been even worse since the offseason trade that sent him to the Mariners. Miami, a half-game up on the second Wild Card, should probably shoot a little higher. The 29-year-old left-hander is sitting on a 5.23 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 73/33 K/BB ratio through 105 innings this season, and he's owed $8.97 million in 2017.

Rival executives tell ESPN's Buster Olney that the Yankees have been pushing an Ivan Nova trade.

Nova is due to become a free agent after the 2016 season and doesn't seem like a qualifying offer candidate, so the Yankees might as well try to get something out of him. The 29-year-old right-hander has pitched very well in his last two starts but owns a pedestrian 4.65 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 72/22 K/BB ratio in 93 innings overall this season. Maybe a move to the National League would work.
Jul 25 - 11:34 AM

Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports that outfield prospect Billy McKinney is also involved in the Aroldis Chapman trade.

So now we have McKinney, shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres, and right-hander Adam Warren heading to the Yankees along with a fourth unidentified piece. That is a massive haul for New York -- far better than what the Reds received from the Yankees for Chapman this past winter. McKinney has struggled this season at Double-A Tennessee, but he was considered a top-100 prospect leading into 2016 and the 2013 first-rounder is only 21 years old. Chicago landed McKinney from Oakland two years ago in the Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel trade.
