Sam Travis went 2-for-4 with a run scored in his major league debut Wednesday against the Rangers.

Travis got the start tonight with lefty Martin Perez on the mound for Texas. He'll be limited to play versus southpaws unless either Hanley Ramirez or Mitch Moreland gets hurt.

Phillies optioned LHP Adam Morgan to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Morgan tossed three scoreless innings in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies. Back to Triple-A, now, where he holds a rough 6.08 ERA across 10 appearances. The 27-year-old southpaw will serve as organizational depth until the Phillies need an additional arm in the pen.

Mike Napoli went 2-for-4 and hit his 11th homer Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Napoli is on pace for 40 homers, but he's hitting .198 with a 54/13 K/BB ratio to date, giving him an OPS+ right around 80. Although he's not an asset right now, he'll probably remain a lineup fixture when Adrian Beltre returns.

Albert Pujols whacked a two-run bomb in a loss to the Rays on Wednesday.

He hit the home run off Erasmo Ramirez with Mike Trout aboard in the first inning. It was his only hit on the night but he did chip in with a walk as well. Pujols owns a .244 batting average with six home runs and 34 RBI.
May 24 - 10:36 PM

Ricky Nolasco was punished for five runs in six innings and took a loss to the Rays on Wednesday.

He surrendered seven hits and three left the yard. He gave up a two-run shot to Steven Souza Jr. in the second inning. Colby Rasmus and Souza both hit solo dingers in the seventh. Nolasco falls to 2-4 with a 4.37 ERA in 10 starts. He has given up 16 longballs in just 57 2/3 innings.
May 24 - 10:32 PM

Tanner Roark allowed one run in seven innings pitched to beat the Mariners 5-1 on Wednesday.

He gave up a run-scoring single to Robinson Cano in the first inning and then clamped down to toss a subsequent six scoreless frames. He gave up eight base hits, did not issue a walk and punched out eight batters in the masterful effort. It was a nice turnaround after he allowed seven runs in his last outing. Roark improved to 4-2 with a 4.32 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 10 starts. He has 50 strikeouts and 21 walks in 58 1/3 innings.
May 24 - 10:24 PM

Anthony Rendon belted a three-run homer in a win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

He came to bat with two outs in the first inning with Jayson Werth on third base and Daniel Murphy on second. Rendon drove a Sam Gaviglio offering over the left center field wall for his eighth home run of the season. It was his only hit of the night. This comes after he hit two homers on Tuesday. Rendon struggled badly for the first few weeks of the season but then found his stroke. He now has a .277 batting average with 31 RBI. He has almost as many walks (25) as strikeouts (30) and that has resulted in a strong .378 on-base percentage.

Yankees placed OF Jacoby Ellsbury on the 7-day concussion disabled list

Ellsbury was diagnosed with a concussion and a neck sprain after he collided with the wall in the first inning of Wednesday's win over the Royals. There is no current timetable for his recovery, but he will be reevaluated on Thursday and we should have a better idea of just how long he might be out as he becomes further removed from the initial concussion. Jack Curry of YES is hearing that Rob Refsnyder will be added to the roster with Ellsbury heading to the disabled list.
