Nate Burleson (hamstring) will miss his third straight preseason game.

Burleson has missed the last couple of weeks with a hamstring issue, and still isn't ready for game action. He's competing with Charles Johnson, Travis Benjamin, and Anthony Armstrong for a roster spot and needs to get healthy. Joe Haden (foot) also won't play Saturday's game.

Lions rookie OLB Kyle Van Noy is being evaluated for a possible sports hernia injury.

Van Noy missed Detroit's third preseason game with an abdominal injury, but could be dealing with something more serious. He's expected to undergo further evaluation. The Lions should provide an update on his status early next week.

Bucs SLB Jonathan Casillas was held out of Saturday's preseason game due to disciplinary reasons.

It's not clear exactly what Casillas did to be inactive, but he didn't make the trip to Buffalo. Casillas is the Bucs' starting SAM linebacker.

Steelers ILB Sean Spence is expected to be "okay" after being diagnosed with a sprained PCL.

Spence has a history of bad knee injuries, but escaped a multi-week ordeal after exiting Thursday night's preseason game. A third-round pick in the 2012 draft, Spence projects as Pittsburgh's No. 3 inside linebacker this season.

The Union-Tribune San Diego admits it's "difficult" to project Ladarius Green's targets in 2014.

Beat writer Michael Gehlken expects Green's snaps and usage to grow, but to what extent is the question. Malcom Floyd is back healthy opposite Keenan Allen, Eddie Royal returns at slot receiver, Antonio Gates remains an every-down tight end. The Bolts are also a philosophically run-first team. At least Green's ADP has stayed reasonable. He's usually there in the 10th and 11th rounds.

Bills coach Doug Marrone raved about the play of rookie Seantrel Henderson and confirmed he expects Henderson to be the Week 1 starter at right tackle.

"We have an opportunity now that if (Henderson) keeps coming along to maybe have the best tandem in the league," Marrone said. "He’s been everything that people obviously didn't say about him when he was coming out which is why we were able to get him in the seventh round." Cordy Glenn (illness) returned to full team drills last week and will play in Saturday's preseason game, so the Bills are moving Henderson to right tackle. Erik Pears is starting at right guard. Second-round pick Cyrus Kouandjio was drafted to be Buffalo's right tackle of the future, but still needs time to develop.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin opened his Saturday press conference by praising third-year WR Rueben Randle.

Randle ran a sharp route on his 15-yard touchdown catch Friday night against the Jets, and displayed impressive body control on a 26-yard strike along the sideline. He's the Giants' best hope for big plays this season. Randle remains a value pick at his mid-ninth-round ADP. He's the No. 2 option in the passing game, and at 6'3/210 should be the clear No. 1 on red-zone throws.
Aug 23 - 4:29 PM

Second-year UDFA WR Frankie Hammond Jr. will start in Kansas City's third preseason game.

Hammand is having a strong start to the preseason, with four catches for 67 yards on six targets. He's been filling in for Dwayne Bowe (quad) at Z receiver, and has "been a star during the offseason and training camp." Hammand is a virtual lock to make the Chiefs' final roster. With Dwayne Bowe suspended for the first game, Hammond could be the Week 1 starter opposite Donnie Avery.
