The Twins have promoted prospect shortstop Nick Gordon to Triple-A Rochester.

Gordon earned the promotion after batting .333/.381/.525 with five homers and seven steals through 42 games while repeating Double-A. The 22-year-old is now just one step away from the majors, though it's unclear where he'll ultimately fit. It could be second base if Brian Dozier leaves via free agency after 2018. The Twins still have Jorge Polanco (currently serving a PED suspension), but there's also the chance that top prospect Royce Lewis moves quickly through the system.

Brewers 1B prospect Jacob Gatewood went 4-for-4 with three doubles for Double-A Biloxi on Monday.

Gatewood's three doubles give him eight on the season, and the four hits raise his season average to .241. The former shortstop prospect has loads of swing-and-miss -- 44 strikeouts in 43 games -- and has issues with selectivity, but when he makes contact, the ball jumps off of his bat. He's still just 22-years-old, and if the light clicks, he has a chance to be a big-league player. There is a ton of volatility in this type of profile, however.

Astros RHP prospect Christian Javier struck out nine over four shutout innings on Monday for Low-A Quad Cities.

Javier, 21, scattered three hits and walked one hitter. Signing for $10,000 in June of 2015, Javier has been excellent for the River Bandits in 2018; with a 2.18 ERA and 56 strikeouts in just 33 innings so far. He locates a low 90s fastball with movement, and he has two pitches that can miss bats in his slider and curve. He likely won't pile up the strikeouts like this at the highest level, but his command and movement could make him a mid-rotation starter when he's ready to go in a couple of seasons.

Padres INF prospect Luis Urias went 1-for-4 with a homer on Monday for Triple-A El Paso.

Urias now has four homers on the season. The 20-year-old infielder is known more for his hit tool than his power -- and for good reason -- but he's capable of capitalizing on mistakes in the middle of the plate. Urias also has a .401 on-base percentage, and he's a competent defender up the middle. Be it at shortstop or second base, he should see time with the Padres in 2018.

Twins recalled OF Ryan LaMarre from Triple-A Rochester.

He'll replace Phil Hughes on the active roster. LaMarre has played well when given the opportunity this year, hitting .324 (11-for-34) over 20 games. The 29-year-old will provide some outfield depth.

Indians C prospect Francisco Mejia went 2-for-4 with a run batted in on Monday for Triple-A Columbus.

Mejia also scored a run. It's been a dreadful start to the season for the catching prospect, and the two hits raise his average to .193 on the season. This was a player that showed one of the best potential hit tools in baseball the last two years, and 36 games is still a fairly small sample size. He's going to have to ramp up production to have any chance to receive a promotion, but the talent hasn't gone anywhere. Mejia should be fine.

Diamondbacks RHP prospect Jon Duplantier hurled six shutout innings on Monday for Double-A Jackson.

Duplantier allowed just two hits, and he walked two while fanning six for the Generals. He's held hitters to just a .606 OPS in the 2018 season, and he now has 37 strikeouts on the 2018 season in just 30 1/3 innings. There are still durability concerns, but Duplantier has a chance to be fantasy relevant as either a starter or a reliever. Hopefully it's as a former.

Rays SS prospect Willy Adames went 2-for-5 with a homer for Triple-A Durham on Monday.

The homer gives Adams four on the year, and the two hits raise his season average to .311. There have been a few fits of inconsistency for the Rays prospect in 2018 -- and throughout his career -- but for the most part, he's looked the part. The Rays should give him a chance to play everyday this summer. It's just a question of when.
