Joel Hanrahan will undergo another Tommy John surgery.

Mar 4 - 8:22 AM

Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports that Chad Billingsley (elbow) is not expected to be game-ready for the Phillies until late April.

Billingsley is behind the other pitchers in camp after being limited to just two starts over the last two seasons following Tommy John and flexor tendon surgeries. He'll be a part of the rotation once healthy, but the Phillies will need one of David Buchanan or Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez to hold down a spot for a few weeks.
Mar 3 - 9:26 PM

Scott Merkin of MLB.com writes that Micah Johnson "might have a leg up" in the competition for the White Sox' second base job.

It's so early in camp that the proclamation probably doesn't mean a whole lot, but it's worth noting nonetheless. Johnson could potentially have ample fantasy value in a starting role, as he's hit .297/.366/.422 in the minors and had 84 stolen bases in 2013 before falling to 22 thefts in 2014 while battling hamstring issues. He's competing with Carlos Sanchez, Gordon Beckham and Emilio Bonifacio.

Wade Miley started and pitched two scoreless innings in Boston's 1-0 defeat of Boston College on Tuesday.

It seems the Red Sox's pitching is plenty good enough to compete in Division 1, having allowed five hits and one unearned run over 18 innings versus Northeastern and B.C. today. The offense, though, isn't quite in midseason form of yet. The Red Sox used backups in this one after going with starters in the first game, and the group combined for six hits, including two from Jemile Weeks.
Mar 3 - 7:00 PM

Madison Bumgarner was touched up for four runs over just 1 2/3 innings in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics.

Bumgarner surrendered a double, a triple and a home run among the five hits he permitted. The lefty had a huge workload in 2014 between the regular and postseason, but we'll only become worried if he starts to have a few of these kinds of outings when the regular seasons begins.
Mar 3 - 6:58 PM

Marcus Semien homered twice and drove in four runs in Tuesday's Cactus League win over the Giants.

Not a bad way to kick off his Oakland career. Semien took World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner deep to center field in the first inning, singled in a run in the second and again went deep to center field in the fifth. He also tried to steal a base but was thrown out. Some scouts question whether Semien will be able to hit at the big league level, but there's no doubt he possesses an intriguing power/speed combo.
Mar 3 - 6:51 PM

Adam Duvall singled and launched a solo homer in Tuesday's Cactus League loss to the Athletics.

The longball came in the second innings off of left-hander Rudy Owens. Duvall, 26, didn't do much in his limited time with the Giants last season, but he's consistently displayed big power in the minors. He's hoping to earn an Opening Day bench spot.
Mar 3 - 6:41 PM

Brennan Boesch finished 2-for-2 with an RBI as the Reds routed the Indians 10-0 in Tuesday afternoon's Cactus League opener.

Boesch singled up the middle in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring Chris Dominguez for the Reds' eighth run of the game. Boesch played right field in this one. He'll see action at all three outfield spots and first base this spring as he tries to make a case for an Opening Day roster spot.
