Falcons RB Devonta Freeman was the most active he had been since returning from a hamstring injury is Monday's practice.

Freeman returned to practice two weeks ago, but had been limited to this point. Falcons coach Dan Quinn was clearly excited to get Freeman back. "He is a guy who has juice," Quinn said. "When you feel somebody on the field, he’s got that kind of explosion and ability. It was great to have him out there." It is unclear if Freeman will suit up for the fourth preseason game. He should enter the season in a timeshare with rookie Tevin Coleman.

Eagles WR Riley Cooper has yet to catch a pass this preseason.

Cooper has started all three preseason games, but he has been nonexistent in the passing game. A blocking specialist, Cooper will not make an offensive impact even if he keeps his starting job all season.

Eagles QB Matt Barkley will start the team's fourth preseason game.

This suggests Barkley is ahead of Tim Tebow in the battle for the third quarterback spot, but coach Chip Kelly may think Tebow's versatility makes him more valuable. Barkley could help his trade value with a good showing.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick called DT Dominique Easley an "explosive player that is very disruptive."

This is the second time in a week Belichick has talked up Easley, who had a sack and an impressive tackle for loss in the third preseason game. Finally healthy, Easley should make an impact as a pass rusher and disruptive run game force this season.

The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci reported the Ravens showed interest in free agent RB Fred Jackson.

Jackson appears poised to sign with the Seahawks, but the Ravens' reported interest could hint they are unhappy with Buck Allen as the backup to Justin Forsett. Allen has struggled this preseason and fumbled on his way into the end zone in the third preseason game. With Lorenzo Taliaferro (knee) sidelined for a least the first several weeks of the season, Baltimore may look to bring in veteran help at final cuts.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said DT Timmy Jernigan's knee injury is not "overly serious."

Jernigan went down early in the Ravens' third preseason game. While the injury will not require surgery, it makes him at best questionable for Week 1. Baltimore is relying on Jernigan to replace Haloti Ngata.

Victor Cruz (calf) is no longer certain he will play in Week 1.

"Nothing’s been set in stone in terms of playing that first week or not playing that first week," Cruz said. "I’m still excited for Week 1. That’s still the goal. That’s still the plan in my opinion." Cruz has been sidelined by a "minor" calf strain since mid-August and is not expected to practice this week. Cruz was already a risky fantasy bet coming off a devastating knee injury.

Free agent CB Tim Jennings is visiting the Buccaneers today.

The only thing shocking about this is it did not happen sooner. Jennings played for Bucs coach Lovie Smith for three years in Chicago and is well versed in the Cover 2 defense Smith likes to employ. This deal should get done.
