Carlos Perez is getting his second consecutive start at catcher Wednesday against the Mariners.

Perez made his major league debut on Tuesday night and went 2-for-4 with a walkoff solo home run to lift Anaheim over Seattle. He was tearing the cover off the ball at Triple-A and could continue to draw regular playing time with the Halos if his bat stays hot at the major league level. Chris Iannetta is hitting just .094/.192/.109 in 73 plate appearances this season.

Bruce Chen will start Saturday against the Twins.

It was either going to be him or Shaun Marcum. Chen is off to a terrific start this season at Triple-A Columbus and could be worth streaming against a weak Twins lineup. The 37-year-old left-hander signed a minor league contract with the Tribe in February.

Pirates prospect Austin Meadows had his five-game hitting streak snapped Monday in a win for High-A Bradenton.

Meadows is hitting just under .300 with seven RBI in 22 appearances. The 20-year-old went to a chiropractor weekly during the offseason to get his hips realigned and it seems to be paying off. MLB.com's 45th-ranked prospect is thriving as a leadoff man and seems to have found some untapped potential as a base stealer. Though not an overwhelming threat, he's already tied a career-high with three stolen bases.

Royals recalled C Francisco Pena from Triple-A Omaha.

Pena will serve as the backup to Royals catcher Salvador Perez while Erik Kratz recovers from a foot injury. Pena, 25, is doubtful to carry much fantasy value.
May 6 - 4:54 PM

Royals placed C Erik Kratz on the 15-day disabled list with a foot injury.

It's not clear how long Kratz will be sidelined. He has logged just five plate appearances (and zero hits) this season as the backup to catcher Salvador Perez.
May 6 - 4:53 PM

Yankees activated INF Jose Pirela from the disabled list.

Pirela missed the first month of the season with a concussion. He'll move into a utility infield role.
May 6 - 4:51 PM

Yankees placed INF Gregorio Petit on the 15-day disabled list with a right hand contusion.

It's not clear how long he'll be out. Petit is batting .200/.256/.286 with 13 strikeouts in 40 plate appearances this season as a utility infielder for the Yankees.
May 6 - 4:50 PM

Tyler Flowers (illness) is back in the White Sox starting lineup Wednesday night against the Tigers.

Flowers missed two games with the flu. He is batting eighth in his return Wednesday versus Alfredo Simon.
