Franklin Gutierrez was removed from Sunday's game in the first inning due to an apparent injury.

He appeared to tweak something while attempting to run down a fly ball in the outfield in the first inning and was lifted for a pinch hitter before he took his first at-bat. Look for an update from the team shortly.

Martin Maldonado hit his fourth home run of the season Sunday in the Angels' loss to the Marlins.

It was a two-run shot in the fourth inning off Marlins starter Jose Urena, but that provided the entirety of the offense for Anaheim in the loss at Miami. Maldonado is slashing .265/.329/.397 in 44 games this season as the Angels' primary catcher.

Jose Urena held the Angels to two earned runs over five innings Sunday for his third win.

Urena issued six walks but allowed only three hits and struck out seven, and he was backed by nine runs from the Marlins offense. The right-hander is now 3-2 with a 3.14 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 27/17 K/BB ratio over 43 innings (five starts, six relief appearances) this season for Miami. He'll get the Diamondbacks at home next.

Guillermo Heredia crushed his third home run of the season on Sunday, helping to power the Mariners to a 5-0 victory over the Red Sox in Boston.

His solo shot in the eighth inning increased the M's advantage to 3-0. Heredia also drew a walk in the contest, finishing the afternoon 1-for-3. He has done a nice job in his limited action, slashing .289/.347/.378 with three homers and eight RBI.

Carlos Ruiz had a nice day at the dish in Sunday's victory over the Red Sox, going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

The veteran backstop has struggled for the most part this season, so it's nice to see him get a multi-hit game on his resume. He's now hitting .180/.288/.260 with no homers and six RBI on the year.

Robinson Cano clubbed a two-run homer on Sunday as the Mariners dispatched of the Red Sox in Boston.

Cano's ninth-inning blast off of Fernando Abad increased the M's lead to 5-0. He also doubled in the contest, finishing the day 2-for-5. The hard-hitting second baseman is now hitting .294/.350/.525 with nine homers and 32 RBI.

Christian Bergman was outstanding in Sunday's victory over the Red Sox, scattering four hits and apair of walks over seven shutout innings.

The right-hander struck out two on the afternoon. Aside from a disaster against the Nationals his last time out, he has pitched relatively well through four starts with the Mariners. He'll bring a 4.67 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 14/8 K/BB ratio into Friday's matchup against the Rays.

Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-4 with a double as the Red Sox were shut out by Christian Bergman and the Mariners on Sunday.

As a team, the Red Sox mustered a total of five hits on the afternoon, with Pedroia responsible for the only multi-hit effort and the lone extra-base hit. The veteran second baseman is now hitting .294/.371/.382 with two homers and 21 RBI on the season.
