Alberto Callaspo (hamstring) will play in a minor league rehab game with High-A Stockton on Saturday.

If all goes well, he's still looking at a return to the Athletics on Sunday. The veteran infielder has been sidelined since July 11 with a strained hamstring.

Ubaldo Jimenez (ankle) is scheduled to begin his minor league rehab assignment with Class-A Aberdeen on Tuesday.

The big right-hander tossed two innings in a simulated game on Friday without any issues. If all goes well on Tuesday, he'll progress to a second minor league rehab start with a higher level affiliate. Before hitting the disabled list on July 11, he posted a troublesome 4.52 ERA and 1.54 WHIP over his first 18 starts.

Jayson Werth returned to the Nationals starting lineup on Friday, going 0-for-3 plus a walk in a victory over the Reds.

The veteran outfielder sat out of Wednesday's game due to soreness in his right knee. The issue appears to be minor and shouldn't impact him much moving forward.
Jul 26 - 4:35 AM

Justin Ruggiano (groin) struck out as a pinch hitter in Friday's victory over the Cardinals.

Ruggiano had been on the shelf since Tuesday due to tightness in his groin. He still hasn't been cleared to play the field, so expect it to be another couple of days before he is able to return to the starting lineup.
Jul 26 - 4:35 AM

Joe Panik (ankle) appeared as a pinch-hitter in Friday's loss to the Giants, singling in his lone at bat.

Panik had been sidelined since Tuesday due to a sprained right ankle sustained in Tuesday's contest. With the arrival of Dan Uggla, it's unclear at the moment just how playing time will shake out at second base, but his already minimal fantasy value is sure to take a hit.
Jul 26 - 4:35 AM

For the second straight night, Eric Hosmer (hand) entered Friday's game as a defensive replacement.

Hosmer is dealing with a bruised right hand, and still hasn't been able to swing the bat. Expect it to be another day or two before he is able to return to the Royals starting lineup.
Jul 26 - 4:35 AM

Zack Cozart returned to the Reds starting lineup on Friday, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout in a loss to the Nationals.

Cozart had been sidelined since leaving Tuesday's game after he was hit by a pitch. He was dropped back to eighth in the lineup for this contest, which given his atrocious .225/.276/.293 slash line on the season is probably still too high.
Jul 26 - 4:35 AM

Pedro Alvarez (knee) appeared as a pinch hitter in Friday's loss to the Rockies, going 0-for-1 with a walk in his two plate appearances.

The most encouraging sign was that he remained in the game to play third base after he hit for Brent Morel in the seventh inning. Expect the slugger to return to the starting lineup on Saturday.
