Francisco Rodriguez kept the Cardinals off the board in the ninth inning, earning his ninth save and preserving Monday's 1-0 victory.

Rodriguez allowed a leadoff single to Jason Heyward, but got two quick outs on strikeouts. Heyward then stole second, and Rodriguez walked Peter Bourjos to put the go-ahead run on base. He bounced back, inducing a game-ending ground out from Kolten Wong. The veteran closer has converted the save in all nine opportunities thus far with a 1.42 ERA and a 22/6 K/BB ratio in 19 innings.

Jaime Garcia pitched brilliantly, limiting the Brewers to one run over seven innings, but took a tough-luck loss on Monday.

Garcia allowed Jean Segura to reach on a single to lead off the ballgame, then watched Segura score on a two-out Carlos Gomez single. They accounted for two of just three hits the lefty allowed on the evening while walking none and striking out four. In his first three starts since returning from the disabled list, Garcia has allowed seven runs (six earned) on 16 hits and five walks with 11 strikeouts in 20 innings. He's worth a flier in mixed leagues, but he will always be an injury risk. Garcia takes on the Dodgers in L.A. in his next outing.

Mike Fiers fired six shutout innings to earn the win against the Cardinals on Monday.

Fiers punched out six batters while issuing a pair of walks and allowing four hits, all singles. The Cardinals had a runner in scoring position only twice against him, in the first and six innings. Fiers has been solid over his last five starts despite making it to the sixth inning on just two occasions. On the season, he has a 4.06 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP and a 69/19 K/BB ratio over 57 2/3 innings. He'll match up with the Twins in a road start next.
Jun 1 - 11:22 PM

Carlos Gomez went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, providing the Brewers their only run as they staved off the Cardinals on Monday.

Gomez brought Jean Segura home on an RBI single in the first inning against Jaime Garcia. The two teams would exchange goose-eggs the rest of the way. Gomez is on a five-game hitting streak and now carries a .264/.309/.457 triple-slash line with five home runs, 21 RBI, and five stolen bases.

Luke Gregerson picked up a pair of strikeouts and his 14th save in the ninth inning, wrapping up Monday's 5-2 win over the Orioles.

Gregerson sandwiched a Steve Clevenger ground out with strikeouts of Chris Davis and Jimmy Paredes in a perfect ninth inning. The right-hander has successfully converted the save in 14 of 15 opportunities thus far with a 3.57 ERA and a 24/6 K/BB ratio in 22 2/3 innings.
Jun 1 - 11:10 PM

Brett Oberholtzer, making his first start since May 13, pitched well in a no-decision, yielding two runs in 5 1/3 innings as the Astros won on Monday.

Oberholtzer had been on the disabled list due to a blister issue which has nagged him all season. His previous start, on May 13, was his first and only start prior to Monday. He scattered seven hits and a pair of walks, relenting the two runs towards the end of his start. The lefty also struck out three. Oberholtzer doesn't have much fantasy appeal, particularly given the blister situation. He'll start next in Toronto against the Blue Jays.
Jun 1 - 11:08 PM

Ubaldo Jimenez got a no-decision, holding the Astros to two runs in six innings, as the Orioles dropped Monday's contest.

Jimenez allowed his first run in the fifth inning on a Luis Valbuena solo home run. He started the seventh inning, but allowed a leadoff single to Chris Carter before being yanked. Carter would later come around to score. Jimenez gave up four hits on the night while walking two and striking out eight. Despite some recent struggles, he still has a terrific 3.12 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP and a 55/16 K/BB ratio over 57 2/3 innings. He'll try to get back into the win column for the first time since May 11 in his next start on the road against the Indians.
Jun 1 - 11:05 PM

Evan Gattis extended his hitting streak to eight games, going 1-for-4 with a two-run single in Monday's win against the Orioles.

Gattis gave the Astros insurance, turning a 3-2 lead into a 5-2 lead with a two-run single to right field in the seventh inning. The DH has been on fire lately, homering three times with four multi-hit games during his eight-game hitting streak. On the year, Gattis has gone yard 11 times while driving in 33 runs and batting .231/.260/.484.
