Cardinals signed DT Tommy Kelly.

Kelly, entering his age-34 season, was cut by the Patriots on Sunday. Once a strong interior pass rusher with the Raiders, Kelly is trying to come back from a torn ACL. He'll try and earn a roster spot before final cuts on Saturday.

Christine Michael missed practice Wednesday with a hamstring injury and won't play in the preseason finale.

The Seahawks re-signed RB Demitrius Bronson to carry some of the load Thursday. Michael's preseason ends with 23 carries for 89 yards (3.9 YPC) and one score. He also caught all seven of his targets for 56 yards and another touchdown. Despite the strong preseason, Michael is still No. 3 on the depth chart.

Daniel Thomas (hamstring) will play in the Dolphins' preseason finale.

He better. Thomas is on the roster bubble. He's missed most of camp and the first three preseason games with a balky hamstring. Thomas is competing with UDFAs Damien Williams and Orleans Darkwa for the No. 3 job. No longer on scholarship under ex-GM Jeff Ireland, Thomas needs to turn heads Thursday.

Suspended WR Josh Gordon can apply for reinstatement at the end of the 2014 season.

It's technically just a season-long ban for Gordon, not a calendar-year suspension. It's a glimmer of good news. Gordon will be away from the Browns for roughly 5-6 months, as long as he keeps his nose clean. Gordon took and passed over 70 drug tests, but failed the one that led to this suspension by 0.01 nanograms per milliliter. Gordon's agent needs to surround him with good people while he's away from the game. He has a ton of football ahead of him.

Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix expects Frostee Rucker to fill the starting left end spot vacated by Darnell Dockett.

Rucker is a soon-to-be 31-year-old who has made 36 career starts, with all but one of those coming with the Bengals. He has 12 career sacks and four forced fumbles. Rucker is merely an average player. We'd expect third-rounder Kareem Martin and/or fifth-rounder Ed Stinson to eventually overtake him.

Josh Gordon's one-year suspension for violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy has been upheld on appeal.

Gordon's one-year suspension begins today, which technically means he won't be allowed around the Browns for 2015 OTAs, minicamp and most of training camp. Perhaps the NFL will grant him reinstatement earlier, based on good behavior and the absurd delay with the appeal ruling. Regardless, the Browns will now have to go to battle for the whole 2014 season with Jordan Cameron as the centerpiece of their passing game and Andrew Hawkins/Miles Austin as complements. We're confident Gordon, still just 23 years old and brimming with truly special talent, will be back with a vengeance. He's just got some growing up to do.

Cowboys signed RB Phillip Tanner.

Tanner was brought back simply to carry the load on Thursday night. Joseph Randle (oblique) and Ryan Williams (groin) are both fighting minor injuries. Look for Tanner to be back on the waiver wire come Saturday.

Cody Latimer is expected to be used in some of the Broncos' red-zone packages.

Even if Wes Welker (concussion) suits up Week 1, it sounds like the Broncos have a role for Latimer. At 6'2/215 with exceptionally strong hands and a penchant for winning 50/50 balls, he's a logical candidate to do some Eric Decker things near the goal-line. It's still unclear if Latimer is ahead of Andre Caldwell on the depth chart in base packages -- the veteran ran ahead of the second-round rookie in the third preseason game.
