David Rollins has been suspended 80 games for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.

A Rule 5 pick, Rollins was caught using Stanozolol. He had been in contention for an Opening Day roster spot given his 1.13 ERA and 7/0 K/BB ratio over eight innings this spring.

Drew Hutchison pitched five strong innings, allowing just one run, Friday versus the Tigers.

Hutchison struck out six and walked one. He's been strong all spring, going 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA. He rates as at least a fringe mixed-league starter this year, even though he's not in a great situation for pitchers in Toronto.

With the rain coming down, Bruce Rondon have up two runs and three hits in one-third of an inning before Friday's game against the Jays was called.

The Tigers might throw this one out because of the poor conditions. Still, it was Rondon's first really shaky outing of the spring. He gave up a two-run homer to Justin Smoak and retired just one of the five batters he faced.

Blue Jays sent LHP Scott Barnes outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Barnes held a 3.60 ERA over seven appearances this spring after being claimed off waivers from the Rangers. He'll now be exposed to waivers again.
Mar 27 - 4:03 PM

Nolan Reimold homered and doubled in his two at-bats before Friday's Orioles-Rays game was called due to rain.

The Orioles were up 4-3 in the fourth when the game ended. Since it's not official, stats from the game won't count. That's too bad for Reimold, who needs every hit he can muster to force the Orioles to free up a roster spot for him. They probably can't carry all three of him, Delmon Young and David Lough as bench players. Including today, Reimold is batting .353 with two homers and a 5/6 K/BB ratio in 34 at-bats.
Mar 27 - 4:01 PM

Robbie Grossman (quad) has been cleared for game action.

Grossman had to leave Wednesday's game with a bruised quad, but he's OK after a day of rest. The 25-year-old is competing for a backup outfielder job.
Mar 27 - 3:59 PM

Bud Norris surrendered three runs over four innings Friday against the Rays.

Norris lowered his spring ERA to 8.62, so that's something. After striking out one and walking two today, he's sporting a 10/11 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings. He's certainly pitched the worst of the Orioles' rotation options, but since he's coming off a 15-win season, it's hard to imagine the team sending him to the pen. He'll probably get the month of April to work through his troubles.
Mar 27 - 3:57 PM

Jonathan Villar (ankle) has been cleared for game action.

Villar was held out of workouts for a day due to a sprained ankle, but he's fine. The 23-year-old has a good shot at a utility role with a .286/.390/.486 batting line so far this camp.
