Johnny Cueto served up three runs over five innings of work Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

The right-hander allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out seven. All three runs scored in his final inning. Cueto ends the spring having allowed six earned runs in 14 innings with a 13/5 K/BB ratio. Cueto will now look forward to Monday's Opening Day start opposite Pirates lefty Francisco Liriano.

Miguel Castro has made the Blue Jays' Opening Day bullpen.

Castro, 20, was a longshot to break camp with the club, but the right-hander had a 2.38 ERA and 10/0 K/BB ratio in 11 1/3 spring innings. He'll be a middle reliever with a chance to pitch himself into more high-leverage roles.
Apr 1 - 6:11 PM

Brett Eibner clubbed a pair of home runs in Wednesday's 4-4 Cactus League tie with the Dodgers.

The Royals appeared headed towards a loss until Eibner entered the game. In the seventh inning, he hit a solo home run to center field off of Zach Lee, then took his second plate appearance of the game in the ninth and hit a two-run home run to center off of Lee to tie the game. Eibner, 26, will open up the season at Triple-A, but his strong spring showing should work in his favor if the Royals need to reach down for a bat during the season.
Apr 1 - 6:06 PM

Darwin Barney went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, and a run scored in Wednesday's Cactus League match-up with the Royals.

Barney's forte hasn't been his bat, but he's swung a hot bat this spring. As the Dodgers break camp, he's batting .341 (15-for-44) with eight extra-base hits. He's made a strong case for inclusion on the 25-man roster as a reserve.
Apr 1 - 6:03 PM

Clayton Kershaw allowed just an unearned run in three innings of work Wednesday facing the Royals.

Kershaw only lasted three innings simply to get a bit of work in ahead of the start of the regular season. He gave up only one hit, walked two, and struck out two. In Cactus League play, Kershaw yielded four earned runs in 22 1/3 innings (1.61 ERA) on 15 hits and six walks while striking out 22. The dominating lefty will square off against James Shields of the Padres on Opening Day on Monday.
Apr 1 - 5:58 PM

Yordano Ventura allowed two runs (one earned) over four innings in his final start of the spring Wednesday versus the Dodgers.

He yielded four hits and a walk while striking out three. Ventura ends his spring having allowed nine earned runs in 18 innings (4.50 ERA) on 19 hits and seven walks while striking out 14. Ventura will start on Opening Day for the Royals against the White Sox.
Apr 1 - 5:56 PM

Marcus Semien went 0-for-1 in Wednesday's 4-1 Cactus League victory over the Angels.

The Athletics will break camp and head back to California to wrap up spring training with three exhibition games against the Giants. Semien had a white-hot start to the spring, but leaves Arizona with only one hit in his last four games. Overall, he's batting .281 (16-for-57).
Apr 1 - 5:53 PM

C.J. Cron went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and an RBI on Wednesday versus the Athletics.

Cron got the scoring started in the first inning with an RBI double off of Jesse Chavez. His afternoon performance brought his Cactus League average up to .415 (27-for-65). Of his 27 hits, 15 of them have gone for extra bases. As long as Josh Hamilton is out, Cron should see regular at-bats in the DH slot for the Angels. His power will give him mixed league appeal.
