The Twins are expected to call up Juan Centeno from Triple-A Rochester on Friday.

The Twins will have to add him to their 40-man roster. John Ryan Murphy will likely be sent down in the corresponding roster move. Centeno's numbers with Rochester are pretty ordinary (.245, 1 HR, 4 RBI) but the Twins needed to make a change with Murphy struggling mightily (3-for-40 with seven strikeouts).

J.A. Happ limited the Rangers to one run over seven innings in a win Thursday.

Happ scattered six hits and a walk while striking out five. He was much better than he needed to be, as his teammates provided him with 12 runs of support. Happ still hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his seven starts, improving to 4-0 with a 2.63 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Happ will go back to his National League roots Tuesday when he takes on the Giants in San Francisco.

Dexter Fowler was ejected from Thursday's game against the Nationals for arguing balls and strikes.

Fowler didn't agree with home plate umpire Vic Carapazza's strike zone when he was called out looking in the third inning. Jason Heyward, who hasn't played since Sunday because of a wrist injury, took over for Fowler in center field.

Jung Ho Kang (knee) could be activated from the disabled list on Friday.

The Pirates have already cleared a spot for him by optioning Jason Rogers to Triple-A Indianapolis. Kang struggled during his rehab assignment, hitting just .150 over 40 at-bats. The Pirates plan on easing him into action with David Freese still making occasional starts at third base. Kang hasn't played for the Pirates since injuring his knee on a hard slide by Chris Coghlan back on September 17.

Joe Panik (groin) plans to play on Friday.

He hasn't seen the field since April 29. Panik did some running on Thursday and is also scheduled to take batting practice. He'll be available to pinch-hit later tonight. Kelby Tomlinson has been filling in for Panik at second base.
May 5 - 8:50 PM

Hunter Pence is dealing with back tightness.

That would explain his absence from Thursday's starting lineup. He's hoping to return on Friday. Pence has gotten off to a strong start, hitting .279 with five homers and 23 RBI through 29 games.

The Twins have placed right-hander Casey Fien on waivers, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.

Fien has been a disaster this year. In 14 outings, he owns a dismal 7.90 ERA to go with an equally discouraging 1.76 WHIP. Opponents have hit a robust .350 against him over that span. Fien can reject a minor league assignment if he clears waivers.
May 5 - 8:35 PM

The Twins have placed left-hander Tommy Milone on waivers, per Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press.

Casey Fien was also waived. Milone was demoted to the bullpen last week after going winless in his first four starts with a 5.79 ERA. His lone relief outing went just as poorly as Milone scattered two hits and three runs in just 3 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to Houston. The 29-year-old can't reject a minor league assignment if he clears waivers.
