Roberto Osuna was suspended for 75 games, without pay, for violating the league's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.

The suspension is retroactive to his arrest date of May 8, which means that he'll be ineligible to return until August 4. Osuna's next scheduled court date is on July 9 where he plans to plead not guilty. Ryan Tepera will continue to fill in as the Blue Jays' closer for the time being.

Orioles' manager Buck Showalter said Friday that Tim Beckham is expected to return from the disabled list on Monday.

The original expectation was that he would return on Saturday, but the club is going to give him a couple of extra days just to be safe. Beckham has been sidelined since April 25 following core muscle surgery.

Michelle McPhee of ABC News reports that Hanley Ramirez is "being eyed in connection with an ongoing federal and state investigation."

There are no other details available at this time, but the report helps to explain why Hanley has remained a free agent nearly four weeks after getting cut loose by the Red Sox. The 34-year-old former All-Star was batting .254/.313/.395 through 44 games this season with Boston. He's still owed around $14 million in the final year of a four-year, $88 million deal.

Addison Russell is out of the Cubs' starting lineup Friday because of renewed soreness in his left middle finger.

Russell just missed a handful of games with what was diagnosed as a left middle finger sprain. It's possible he'll need more than one day off this time too. Javier Baez is starting at shortstop and Ben Zobrist is playing second base Friday night against the Reds.

Martin Perez (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday with Low-A Hickory.

Perez has been on the disabled list since late April with discomfort in his surgically-repaired right (non-throwing) arm, and he figures to need at least 3-4 starts on the farm to get properly stretched out. The 27-year-old southpaw had a hideous 9.67 ERA through his first five starts this season with the Rangers.

A suspension is expected to be handed down on Friday night in the Roberto Osuna case, per Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Osuna has been on MLB's administrative leave list since his arrest back on May 8 in Toronto for allegedly assaulting a woman. There is still no resolution to the case, and Osuna's next court date isn't until July 9, but Heyman hears that MLB investigators were able to interview the alleged victim. Look for an announcement within the next few hours. Ryan Tepera is currently filling in as the Blue Jays' primary closer.

Yohander Mendez has been sent all the way to High-A Down East.

Mendez was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock earlier this week after violating team rules on a late night out in Kansas City, and now the Rangers will put him on a "program" to help "increase the focus on his craft," per general manager Jon Daniels. The 23-year-old right-hander is clearly in hot water with the organization.

Scott Oberg (back) is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Oberg, who's been out since June 8, should be ready to return to the Rockies' bullpen after one or two appearances on the farm. The 28-year-old right-hander has a 4.08 ERA in 17 2/3 innings this season at the major league level. That's pretty good compared to some of the other bloated ERAs in the Colorado 'pen.
