Mets catching prospect Kevin Plawecki has been diagnosed with a mild case of vertigo.
The Mets are hopeful that Plawecki will be alright after a few days off for Triple-A Las Vegas. Ranked by Baseball America at midseason as the No. 40 prospect in the game, Plawecki is batting .310/.368/.472 with eight homers and 54 RBI between Double- and Triple-A this season.
Taijuan Walker will be recalled to start on Wednesday versus the Mets.
Walker has put up a 3.60 ERA while striking out nine over 10 innings in his two starts for the Mariners this season. With James Paxton (lat) slated to return pretty soon, Walker likely has to pitch well in order to remain in the rotation. Still, he makes for a nice streaming option Wednesday at the very least.
Rockies trainer Keith Dugger said Tuesday that there's no guarantee Troy Tulowitzki (hip) will be ready for activation when his 15 days are up.
Tulo was placed on the disabled list Tuesday with a left hip flexor strain. It's possible he'll be ready to go in two weeks, but it's far from a given, particularly with his history of leg issues. Josh Rutledge will handle shortstop while Tulo is out.
Angel Pagan (back) was able to take swings from both sides of the plate on Monday.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy called it a "step in the right direction." Pagan has been out since the middle of June with a back strain and is not expected to return to San Francisco's active roster until sometime in August.
Rockies recalled LHP Yohan Flande from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Flande will make a spot start for the Rockies on Tuesday night against the Nationals. He posted a rough 7.36 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in three starts earlier this season.
Rockies placed SS Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 20, with a left hip flexor strain.
Tulo suffered the hip strain Saturday while trying to leg out a single. The Rockies called the injury a quad "cramp" at first, but Tulo wasn't making much progress and will now be sidelined through the July 31 trade deadline. He wasn't likely to be dealt anyway. Josh Rutledge will fill in at shortstop and could be a decent mixed-league fantasy option for a bit.
Angels sent 3B Ian Stewart outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Stewart was designated for assignment on July 19 and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old has batted just .208/.310/.361 this season at the Triple-A level.
Troy Tulowitzki (quad) is likely to be placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Tulo hasn't played since tweaking his quad Saturday while running down the first base line. The injury was initially called a "cramp," but it's obviously more serious than that. The shortstop is not listed anywhere on the Rockies' lineup card Tuesday night. Not even as a reserve.
