Danny Valencia (hamstring) went 0-for-3 on Monday in his first minor league rehab game with High-A Stockton.

May 3 - 8:29 AM

James Shields picked up his first win of the year after allowing one run in six innings Monday against the Rockies.

Shields gave up nine hits, but once Nick Hundley's RBI double in the fourth went for extra bases. He walked two and struck out five. Shields has a solid 3.23 ERA after five starts, though he still doesn't look like a great bet in mixed leagues going forward.
May 3 - 1:23 AM

Jon Gray fanned 11 while allowing two runs over six innings Monday against the Padres.

That's better. Gray's rotation spot could have been in jeopardy with another poor performance tonight, but he was really strong after getting his first out tonight. Unfortunately, he allowed two runs before that occurred (the bottom of the first started with a two singles, a two-run double and a walk). Once he did get that first out, he set down 16 in a row through the sixth inning.
May 3 - 1:22 AM

Derek Norris finished 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against the Rockies on Monday.

Norris is hitting .145 with 25 strikeouts and just four walks through 83 at-bats. He should rebound and serve as a decent option in two-catcher mixed leagues, but it's been ugly so far.
May 3 - 1:18 AM

Nate Karns picked up a win after yielding three runs in six-plus innings Monday against the A's.

Karns allowed one run in six innings before giving up a single, a homer and a double to the three batters he faced in the seventh. Fortunately, Vidal Nuno and Nick Vincent combined to strand the baserunner, keeping Karns in line for the win in a 4-3 game. Neither team scored afterwards. Karns is 3-1 with a 3.81 ERA.
May 3 - 1:15 AM

Kendall Graveman surrendered four runs in 6 1/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Mariners.

It was one run through five innings, but then Graveman gave up four hits and two runs in the sixth. For some reason, Bob Melvin sent him back out for the seventh anyway (even though four straight lefties were due up), and he was pulled after a one-out double (the runner later came around to score). Graveman is now 1-3 with a 4.40 ERA. He's just an AL-only guy for the moment.
May 3 - 1:13 AM

Nori Aoki went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a steal against the A's on Monday.

Aoki stole third base in the seventh inning and scored when the throw went into left field. He entered the night with a .212/.302/.294 line and just one steal in four tries this season.
May 3 - 1:10 AM

Khris Davis hit his fourth and fifth homers of the year Monday against the Mariners.

The A's brought in Davis for his power, and they've stuck with him during his slow start. He's hitting .234 with a 28/3 K/BB ratio in 94 at-bats.
