Keenan Allen - WR - Chargers

Keenan Allen recorded five catches for 61 yards on nine targets Sunday in the Chargers’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

Allen won most of his matchups in the middle of the field and Philip Rivers probably would have been wise to target him more frequently rather than constantly bombing risky deep balls into the teeth of Kansas City’s secondary. A master route runner with enough size to win matchups against physical corners (like Marcus Peters, for example), Allen remains one of the league’s most versatile receiving weapons. He’ll be a borderline WR1 against the Eagles in Week 4.

Hunter Henry - TE - Chargers

Hunter Henry wasn’t targeted Sunday in the Chargers’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

It was his second goose egg of the season. What makes it even more frustrating is that those two 0-fors were sandwiched by a pretty good game against the Dolphins in Week 2 (seven catches for 80 yards). Henry tied for the league-lead among tight ends with eight touchdowns as a rookie in 2016, but has yet to visit the end zone this year. He’ll look to end that drought against the Eagles in Week 4.

Tyrell Williams - WR - Chargers

Tyrell Williams absorbed two-of-seven targets for 15 yards Sunday in the Chargers’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

Philip Rivers couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn on Sunday, so you can hardly blame Williams for tanking in a tough matchup with Kansas City. Williams hasn’t topped 60 yards in a game this season and is still sitting on zero touchdowns. With first-round rookie Mike Williams due back at some point, Williams has so far squandered a golden opportunity as the Bolts’ No. 2 wideout. There’s not much reason for optimism heading into a Week 4 matchup with Philadelphia.

Antonio Gates - TE - Chargers

Antonio Gates pulled in two-of-five targets for 30 yards Sunday in the Chargers’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

A week after setting the all-time mark for touchdowns by a tight end, Gates was back to being invisible. Ineffective as he was, Gates actually set season-highs in both yards and targets. He’s unlikely to be a factor next week against Philadelphia.

Travis Benjamin - WR - Chargers

Travis Benjamin delivered five catches for 105 yards on eight targets Sunday in the Chargers’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

He also took an end-around for a nine-yard gain in the first quarter. Benjamin secured the game’s longest catch, beating Terrance Mitchell for a 44-yard gain down the right sideline. That also came in the first quarter. Consistency continues to elude Benjamin, though his speed will always be a game-changer. The 27-year-old deep threat will try to stay hot against the Eagles in Week 4.

Melvin Gordon - RB - Chargers

Melvin Gordon notched 79 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries while failing to catch either of his two targets Sunday in the Chargers’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

Gordon aggravated a preexisting knee injury late in the first half, but returned for the fourth quarter. He was limited to one yard on two carries after halftime, a result of both his injury and game script as the Chargers spent the second half in catch-up mode. He scored L.A.'s first and only touchdown of the day on an 11-yard scamper late in the first quarter. Gordon has now scored in every game this year and will look to extend that streak next week against the Eagles.

Branden Oliver - RB - Chargers

Branden Oliver logged 16 yards on eight carries while adding four catches for 18 yards on six targets Sunday in the Chargers’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

Oliver saw more run than usual with Melvin Gordon sidelined for a chunk of the second half. He couldn’t create much separation on the ground, managing a long run of just six yards. Gordon was able to finish the game, which means Oliver will be merely a change-of-option against the Eagles in Week 4.

Philip Rivers - QB - Chargers

Phillip Rivers completed 20-of-40 passes for 237 yards with three interceptions Sunday in the Chargers’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

Rivers nearly had a fourth interception off a deflected pass in the fourth quarter, though the call was changed to an incompletion on review. Either way, it was a dismal performance from Rivers, who was picked off three times in the first half and never showed even the slightest semblance of rhythm with any of his receivers. A gunslinger if there ever was one, Rivers insisted on challenging the Chiefs with deep passes downfield, an approach that backfired spectacularly. Rivers has now thrown an incredible 21 interceptions over his last 12 games going back to last season. It will be hard to trust him even in an inviting home matchup against the Eagles next week.
