Yadier Molina is not in the Cardinals' lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.

Tony Cruz will start behind the plate. Look for Molina to start the second game.
Jul 7 - 11:43 AM

Cardinals recalled LHP Tyler Lyons from Triple-A Memphis.

Lyons will serve as the 26th man in Tuesday's doubleheader and start against Jake Arrieta in the first game. The 27-year-old has a 5.09 ERA and 28/7 K/BB ratio in 23 innings over five starts with the Cardinals this season. He has pitched really well in his last two chances.
Jul 7 - 11:41 AM

Kolten Wong will bat second in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.

Wong has batted sixth in each of the last three games, but he's in the second spot with Matt Carpenter sitting. The 24-year-old has been struggling of late, but he went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a run scored, and a stolen base on Monday. Tommy Pham is batting leadoff again Tuesday.
Jul 7 - 11:38 AM

Matt Carpenter is not in the starting lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.

Mark Reynolds will start at third base while Xavier Scruggs plays first. Carpenter figures to play in the second game.
Jul 7 - 11:34 AM

Cubs recalled RHP Dallas Beeler from Triple-A Iowa.

Beeler will serve as the 26th man in Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals and start the second game. The 26-year-old has a 6.33 ERA and 50/25 K/BB ratio in 58 1/3 innings over 13 starts this season in Triple-A. He's not a fantasy option.
Jul 7 - 11:32 AM

Tsuyoshi Wada (shoulder) gave up four runs over four innings Monday in a minor league rehab start with Double-A Tennessee.

Wada, out since June 22 with inflammation in his left deltoid muscle, allowed eight hits (including two home runs) while striking out five. It's unclear what the next step will be. Clayton Richard is currently serving as the Cubs' fifth starter.

Rays designate RHP Preston Guilmet for assignment.

Guilmet was optioned to Triple-A Durham last week, but this move takes him off the 40-man roster with John Jaso (wrist) returning from the 60-day disabled list. There's a chance he could pass through waivers unclaimed.
Jul 7 - 11:15 AM

Rays placed OF Steven Souza on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 6, with a right pinkie finger laceration.

Souza suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch on Sunday. The good news is that he's not dealing with a fracture or tendon damage, but he'll get some extended rest. The 26-year-old is batting .210/.301/.417 with 15 homers, 33 RBI, and 10 steals over 79 games this season.
