Brad Hand will start Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

The Marlins are scrambling for starters with both Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) and Mat Latos (knee) on the disabled list. Jose Urena started Tuesday and now Hand will be pulled out of the bullpen to take the ball Wednesday. Hand last pitched two-thirds of an inning on Sunday and hasn't gone more than 2 2/3 frames this month. Obviously he won't be long for Wednesday's contest.

Kyle Hendricks limited the Nationals to one run in seven innings, taking a no-decision in Tuesday's walk-off 3-2 victory.

Hendricks was working on a shutout until Bryce Harper clubbed a home run to left-center. The young right-hander allowed only four hits in total while walking two and striking out four. Hendricks has been hit or miss this season, but has been mostly hit in the month of May as he was coming off of a shutout of the Padres in his previous start. He carries a 3.76 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP, and a 41/11 k/BB ratio in 52 2/3 innings, which he'll bring into a road start versus the Marlins.

Skip Schumaker hit a pinch-hit walk-off double in the Reds' win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

With a man on second and one out, Schumaker delivered the game-winning hit to left field to send Reds fans home happy. It also sent his teammates home happy, as the win was the Reds' first in their last 10 tries. The walk-off hit was a nice moment for Schumaker, who is hitting just .240/.255/.360 in a reserve role this season.

Jordan Zimmermann pitched well in a no-decision, yielding one run in seven innings of work as the Nationals lost to the Cubs on Tuesday.

Zimmermann allowed six hits and three walks while striking out five. His only big mistake resulted in a Dexter Fowler home run in the first inning. All five of the right-hander's May starts have been quality starts, helping lower his ERA to 3.26 with a 1.27 WHIP and a 41/14 K/BB ratio in 60 2/3 innings. Zimmermann will toe the rubber against the Blue Jays at home in his next start.
May 26 - 10:05 PM

Kris Bryant went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win against the Nationals.

Bryant tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth with a blast off of reliever Aaron Barrett. The 23-year-old has homered in back-to-back games and all seven of his home runs have come since May 9. He's also knocked in 31 runs and carries a .281/.396/.489 triple-slash line.
May 26 - 10:02 PM

Chris Rusin held the Reds to one run over seven innings in a no-decision against the Reds on Tuesday.

Rusin was pressed into action when Jorge De La Rosa was scratched with a cut on his pitching hand. In De La Rosa's place, Rusin yielded just four hits and four walks, striking out five in his season debut. He didn't factor in the decision -- the game remained tied 1-1 after both starters were out of the game -- but it was still a good showing for the 28-year-old. De La Rosa isn't expected to miss any more time, so Rusin's future in the rotation is still unclear.
May 26 - 10:02 PM

Michael Lorenzen allowed a lone run over seven innings but took a no-decision Tuesday against the Rockies.

Lorenzen limited the Rockies to just two hits, but one of those was a Nick Hundley solo homer. The right-hander also walked three and struck out three. It was a strong return to the rotation for Lorenzen, who had been used out of the bullpen in recent weeks as the Reds went to a four-man rotation. Lorenzen now owns a 3.12 ERA this year. His next start in on track to be next week against the Phillies.
May 26 - 10:02 PM

Bryce Harper belted his 17th home run of the season in a losing effort against the Cubs on Tuesday.

Harper tied the game at 1-1 with his seventh-inning blast off of starter Kyle Hendricks. The phenom has homered 12 times in the month of May. Along with 17 round-trippers total, he's hitting .331/.467/.734 with 42 RBI. Player of the Month honors await him.
