Patriots rookie RB James White is inactive for the Super Bowl.

The 130th overall pick in last May's draft, White was a favorite inside the draftnik community, but looked overwhelmed this preseason and was active for just three games as a rookie. The door could crack open for White to contribute in 2015 if Shane Vereen leaves in free agency. White was viewed as a plus pass blocker and pass catcher coming out of Wisconsin.

Seahawks rookie WR Kevin Norwood is inactive for the Super Bowl.

He finished the season behind Ricardo Lockette and Bryan Walters on the depth chart, and couldn't even crack the game-day roster after Paul Richardson's ACL tear. A 2014 fourth-round pick out of Alabama, Norwood is already 25 years old, and turns 26 next September. We don't foresee Norwood evolving into a significant contributor in Seattle's 2015 offense.

Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor is active for Super Bowl XLIX.

Chancellor put a scare into the Seahawks when he departed Friday's practice early with a knee "bruise." He's all set to face the Patriots. Seattle's inactives are QB B.J. Daniels, OT Garry Gilliam, OG Keavon Milton, C Patrick Lewis, CB Marcus Burley, WR Kevin Norwood, and DL David King.

Patriots RB Jonas Gray is inactive for the Super Bowl.

Gray went berserk against the Colts in Week 11. He played a combined 45 snaps in New England's final eight games as LeGarrette Blount bypassed Gray for power-running duties. Gray turns 25 in June. A one-dimensional, replacement-level talent, Gray will have to battle for a roster spot in 2015.

Patriots C Bryan Stork is active for Super Bowl XLIX.

Stork missed the AFC Championship Game with a knee injury. His return is good news for New England's run game, as Stork blocks with a mean streak. The Pats' Super Bowl inactives are RB Jonas Gray, RB James White, DE Zach Moore, WR Josh Boyce, WR Brian Tyms, OT Jordan Devey, and DT Joe Vellano.

The Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett considers free agent DT Nick Fairley a "long shot" to return to the Lions.

27-year-old Fairley presumably wore out his welcome due to large weight fluctuations and inconsistent on-field performance. He's still going to generate a ton of interest on the open market. When on his game, Fairley is very difficult to block, particularly when operating as a pass rusher.

Calvin Johnson will not need offseason surgery.

It's good news for Megatron, who underwent finger and ankle surgery last offseason. Turning 30 next September, Johnson should have at least 1-2 year left of top-end wide receiver play. "Feeling good," Johnson said on Saturday. "Coming along. I'm not 100 (percent) yet, but that's what the offseason's for, to get right. So reload and get ready for next year."

The Detroit Free Press confirms free agent DT Ndamukong Suh is "angling" to become the NFL's highest paid defensive player.

He won't be giving any hometown discounts to Detroit, which already has exorbitant cap costs tied up in Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson. Beat writer Dave Birkett does believe Suh will ultimately re-sign with the Lions. An alternative would be to re-sign Nick Fairley and C.J. Mosley on the cheap and make them bookend starters. Fairley and Mosley's contracts are up, as well.
