Ryan Braun homered and drove home four runs on Friday, leading the Brewers in an 11-0 rout over the Braves in Atlanta.

Braun got the Brewers started with a bang, blasting a two-run homer off Eric Stults in the first inning. He finished the night 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and also drew a walk, reaching safely in all four of his plate appearances. After a slow start to the season, he has come on strong in recent weeks and is now slashing .273/.346/.538 with 11 homers and 33 RBI.

Wily Peralta hurled four scoreless innings against the Braves on Friday before departing due to tightness in his left side.

Peralta allowed just one hit and a pair of walks while punching out two. His team had staked him to an early 10-0 lead, so the tightness in his side must have been a real concern for the Brewers to not let him go back out for the fifth inning. At this point, his next scheduled start against the Brewers on Wednesday could be in jeopardy.

Cameron Maybin went 1-for-3 and swiped his sixth base of the season as the Braves were shut out by the Brewers on Friday.

Maybin also drew a walk in the ballgame. He's seeing fairly regular playing time in the Braves outfield, and hit out of the second spot in the lineup on Friday, which makes him an interesting commodity in NL-only and deeper mixed leagues. With the 1-for-3 effort, Maybin is now hitting .258/.357/.423 on the year.

Jeff Samardzija held the Twins to two runs and three hits over eight innings in a victory Friday.

Samardzija fanned nine, besting his previous season high in strikeouts by two. He's now 4-2 with a 4.28 ERA and a 49/12 K/BB ratio in 51 innings for the season. If he keeps striking out four batters for each one he walks (hardly an impossibility, considering he was at nearly 5:1 last season), his ERA should continue to drop.
May 22 - 11:17 PM

Eric Stults was obliterated in a spot start against the Brewers on Friday, allowing seven runs on three hits over 3 2/3 innings of work.

The veteran southpaw also issued five walks while striking out five. The Brewers got a pair of runs in the first inning on a two-run blast by Ryan Braun, then added on seven in the fourth to break the game open and chase Stults. He was merely getting an opportunity with Alex Wood under the weather on Friday and will head back to the bullpen where he'll continue to function in a long relief role.
May 22 - 11:16 PM

Adam Eaton went 0-for-4 on Friday to snap his 10-game hitting streak.

Eaton was just 5-for-20 in his last five games, so he wasn't exactly red-hot. Still, his current .229 average is a plenty better than his .186 mark from the final game before the streak started.

Eddie Rosario struck out twice and was credited with a sac bunt during Friday's game against the White Sox.

Since homering in his first major league at-bat, Rosario is 7-for-35 with one extra-base hit (a double) and a 15/1 K/BB ratio. But given his lousy Triple-A numbers, that shouldn't really come as any surprise. Instead of keeping him around as a backup, the Twins will probably return him to Triple-A soon.
May 22 - 11:12 PM

Prince Fielder blasted a pair of home runs and drove home four runs on Friday as the Rangers outlasted the Yankees 10-9 in a wild game in New York.

The Rangers broke the game open by scoring seven runs in the third inning, with Fielder's three-run blast off starter Michael Pineda serving as the big blow. He tacked on a solo shot off Chasen Shreve in the seventh inning which would end up looming large. He's having a terrific season in the middle of the Rangers lineup, batting .341/.397/.521 with seven homers and 27 RBI.
