C.J. Wilson pitched 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball in the Angels' 4-1 victory over the Rangers on Saturday.

Unfortunately, Wilson needed one more out in order put himself in position for the victory; the Angels were down 1-0 when he left, but then scored three times in the bottom of the sixth. Wilson has pitched well in three of his four starts, albeit not against the toughest of competition. We want to see more strikeouts before we consider recommending him in mixed leagues.

Making his first start since being called up Friday, Grant Green went 2-for-3 with two runs scored Saturday against the Rangers.

The Angels were pretty much grooming Green as an outfielder this spring, but he played second tonight. Even in Triple-A, he had played there just once this year. Second base is certainly where his bat plays best and probably the only position at which he has a chance of becoming a regular. The Angels, though, probably won't keep him up for long.
Apr 26 - 12:48 AM

Elvis Andrus finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base Saturday against the Angels.

Andrus has reached base in five straight, a major accomplishment for a Rangers hitter this year. Unfortunately, he's still batting just .208 overall. Worse, he's drawn one walk in 73 at-bats, an unusual problem for the light-hitting shortstop; if nothing else, he's usually managed a decent walk rate for a guy with so little power.
Apr 26 - 12:46 AM

Filling in for Yasiel Puig, Andre Ethier went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and a walk to lead the Dodgers to an 11-8 win over the Padres on Friday.

Ethier was making his first start in six days, but the lack of activity hasn't hurt him so far; he's hit .353 with a couple of homers in 34 at-bats. He'll probably have some value in mixed leagues if Puig lands on the disabled list because of his hamstring.
Apr 26 - 12:38 AM

Ian Kennedy was blasted for eight runs in 4 1/3 innings by the Dodgers in his return from the disabled list Saturday.

Kennedy, who didn't make a rehab start during his brief time on the DL, gave up three homers in a start for the first time since Aug. 16, 2013. Expect a better showing next week in a home start against the Rockies.
Apr 26 - 12:36 AM

Juan Uribe's first homer of the season was a two-run shot off the Padres' Chris Rearick on Saturday.

Uribe is being pushed by Alex Guerrero and Justin Turner at third, but he still has his glove working to his advantage, meaning he shouldn't have to match the numbers of the other two in order to remain a regular. And it should probably be acknowledged that he did hit .311/.337/.440 in 386 at-bats last season.
Apr 26 - 12:34 AM

Justin Upton homered twice and knocked in five runs in a losing cause Saturday against the Dodgers.

Upton probably won't quite match last April, when he hit .326 with eight homers, but he's off to another nice start. It was his eighth career two-homer game and first since last April 10.
Apr 26 - 12:32 AM

Troy Tulowitzki hit a solo home run in Saturday's 11-inning loss to the Giants.

The home run was Tulowitzki's second of the season and gave him nine RBI. He also added a single to finish the game 2-for-5. While his .303/.309/.530 slash-line is impressive in its own right (though his lack of walks is somewhat odd), owners should be even more pleased that Tulo's showing no ill-effect or discomfort from last year's hip surgery. If he can stay healthy, his bat remains one of the best in the game.
