Jose Quintana pitched well in a no-decision against the Twins on Friday, punching out nine over 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball.

Quintana allowed seven hits and a walk in the ballgame. The only damage against him came on an RBI single by Kennys Vargas in the sixth inning. The veteran southpaw has been outstanding for the White Sox this season, compiling a 2.89 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 125/33 K/BB ratio over 137 innings. He'll look to continue his dominance when he takes on the Tigers in Detroit on Thursday.

Kolten Wong went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in Friday’s 11-6 win over the Marlins.

Wong finished a homer shy of the cycle. He drove in a run with a double in the second inning before adding an RBI single in a six-run fifth. The 25-year-old has disappointed with a .241/.329/.321 batting line this season, but he has shown some signs of life with the bat in recent days.

Mike Leake got the win Friday despite giving up six runs over five innings against the Marlins.

It wasn’t pretty, but he’ll take it. The Cardinals scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning to give Leake a huge lead, but he was touched up for five runs in the bottom of the frame and was pulled after six at 87 pitches. While he got the win, Leake has now allowed 13 runs (12 earned) over his last two starts to balloon his ERA from 4.00 to 4.50 for the year. He’ll try to get back on track next week against the Reds in Cincinnati.

Jose Urena was rocked for eight runs in 4 1/3 innings Friday against the Cardinals.

Ouch. Urena gave up a three-spot in the third before he was chased as part of a six-run fifth inning. He gave up eight hits (including a two-run homer to Jeremy Hazelbaker) and walked four. Urena was coming off back-to-back solid starts, but he could lose a rotation spot with Andrew Cashner and Colin Rea now in the fold.
Jul 29 - 11:58 PM

Tommy Pham finished 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and three runs scored against the Marlins on Friday.

Pham was hit on the wrist by a pitch in the second inning, but he remained in the game and managed an RBI single in the Cardinals’ six-run fifth inning before slugging a 420-foot blast off Nick Wittgren one inning later. The 28-year-old has packed a punch when called upon this season, slugging seven homers in just 105 plate appearances.
Jul 29 - 11:57 PM

Martin Prado went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in a loss to the Cardinals on Friday.

After hitting three homers through his first 95 games this season, Prado has now gone deep in back-to-back games. He has six multi-hit games in his last nine, raising his batting average from .313 to .327 overall. He’s third in the NL in batting average behind Wilson Ramos and Daniel Murphy from the Nationals.
Jul 29 - 11:57 PM

Ichiro Suzuki went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday’s loss to the Cardinals.

The chase continues. Suzuki made the start on Friday after delivering a pinch-hit single on Thursday, but he failed to take advantage of the opportunity. He remains two hits away from 3,000 in MLB.
Jul 29 - 11:56 PM

Alex Dickerson was diagnosed with a right hip contusion after leaving Friday's game after colliding with teammate Travis Jankowski in the outfield.

Given how bad the collision looked, Padres fans and fantasy owners alike can breathe a sigh of relief that the only damage is a hip contusion. He should be considered day-to-day.
