Nick Ahmed went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Giants.

Ahmed has struggled at the dish since his promotion, as he had four hits in 22 at-bats coming into the game. The runs scored were his first in his career. The 24-year-old may have a future in the big leagues, but he'll likely be returned to Triple-A Reno when Chris Owings returns from injury.
Jul 13 - 9:39 PM

Madison Bumgarner gave up 10 hits and four runs over 6 1/3 innings in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

The Diamondbacks didn't have many issues hitting Bumgarner, but he was able to control the damage enough to earn his 10th win. That was largely due to the grand slam Bumgarner hit in the sixth inning to help his own cause. The break comes at a good time for the lefty, who's allowed 19 runs in his last four starts. Bumgarner is more talented than his recent starts would indicate, and he should improve upon his 3.47 ERA in the second half.

Orioles released RHP Tim Alderson.

The 25-year-old hurler, and first round pick of the Giants from the 2007 draft, owned a 6.12 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 37/19 K/BB ratio over 50 innings at Triple-A Norfolk. He'll attempt to latch on elsewhere on a minor league deal.
Jul 13 - 9:31 PM

Vidal Nuno allowed four runs over five innings in a loss to the Giants on Sunday.

Nuno held the Marlins scoreless over seven innings in his first start with the Diamondbacks, but he was less effective in his second. The lefty danced around trouble until the fifth inning, when he served up a grand slam to Buster Posey. Nuno walked one and struck out four on the day. He's got a 5.10 ERA and 1.37 WHIP between the Yankees and Diamondbacks, and despite likely being better in the National League, he's still not a factor outside of deep NL-only leagues.
Jul 13 - 9:30 PM

Sonny Gray allowed one unearned run over 7 2/3 innings in the Athletics' 4-1 victory over the Mariners on Sunday.

Gray gave up six hits and walked two, striking out five. Gray has now won four straight to run his record to 10-3. The right-hander is emerging as an front-of-the-rotation pitcher this season, owning a 2.79 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 19 starts. He should continue to pitch well in the season's second half.
Jul 13 - 9:23 PM

Brandon Moss hit his 21st home run in a win over the Mariners on Sunday.

The homer, a solo shot, was Moss' second home run in his last two games. It was his only hit in four at-bats. The 30-year-old is hitting .268/.349/.530 with 66 RBI -- sixth-most in the American League -- and 45 runs. Moss is well on his way to another career year in 2014.
Jul 13 - 9:19 PM

Sean Doolittle got four outs for his 14th save on Sunday, closing out a win over the Mariners.

Doolittle entered with two runners on and two outs in the eighth inning, getting Kyle Seager to pop out to end the threat. He worked a perfect ninth for his 14th save. The lefty has a 2.89 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 63/2 K/BB ratio over 43 2/3 innings this year, and he enters the second half firmly entrenched as the A's closer.
Jul 13 - 9:15 PM

Chris Young allowed three runs over six innings in a loss to the A's on Sunday.

After racking up 14 strikeouts in his previous two starts, Young struck out just two on Sunday. Even with the loss, it's been a good first half for the 35-year-old. Young enters the second half 8-6 with a 3.15 ERA and 1.10 WHIP.
