Bengals placed TE Alex Smith on injured reserve, ending his season.

Sep 16 - 3:01 PM

Gerald McCoy (broken hand) was held out of Bucs practice on Tuesday, and is uncertain for Thursday's game against the Falcons.

Speaking after practice Tuesday, McCoy hinted he won't suit up against the Falcons. "We're trying to figure out the best way to keep it protected," McCoy said. "There's always a risk you could make it worse. ... I don't think it's a secret that it's going to be hard to play with a broken hand after a couple days." It appears McCoy is planning to play through the injury, but is unlikely to do so before Week 4.
Sep 16 - 2:56 PM

Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) escaped Sunday's win over the 49ers without setbacks.

He'll be good to go for Week 3 against the Jets' shaky secondary, and is getting an extra day of rest with the game coming on Monday night. Likely still playing at less than 100 percent health, Jeffery will be a borderline WR1.
Sep 16 - 2:53 PM

Bengals signed TE Kevin Brock.

A 2009 undrafted free agent, Brock has made six career appearances. He's depth for a team adjusting to the loss of Tyler Eifert (elbow, I.R./return).
Sep 16 - 2:47 PM

Jaguars signed WR Tavarres King.

A 2013 fifth-round pick of the Broncos, King was on the Panthers' practice squad. His signing is an indication the Jags expect at least one of Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and Allen Hurns (ankle) to miss Week 3.
Sep 16 - 2:35 PM

Jaguars placed TE Marcedes Lewis (ankle) on injured reserve/designated to return.

Lewis suffered a severe high-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Redskins. He'll be first eligible to return in Week 12, as the Jaguars are on bye in Week 11. Lewis is wholly droppable in 14-team leagues. Lewis' backup, Clay Harbor, is still recovering from a long-term calf injury, and is questionable for Week 3. Journeyman Mickey Shuler is the next man up on the depth chart. The Jags have also promoted TE Marcel Jensen from the practice squad.
Sep 16 - 2:27 PM

Bills placed S Jonathan Meeks on injured reserve with a neck injury, ending his season.

LB Larry Dean will take his roster spot. A second-year fifth rounder, Meeks suffered the injury in training camp. He was bandied about as a potential starter in OTAs, but that talk quickly faded once camp began. Meeks appeared in just eight games as a rookie. He'll be back to compete for one of the Bills' final roster spots in 2015.
Sep 16 - 2:19 PM

Mike Pouncey (hip) returned to Dolphins practice on Tuesday.

It's Pouncey's first practice since he went down in OTAs. He'll likely be listed as "limited," but it's a huge step in the right direction. Pouncey is unlikely to suit up for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, but has been targeting a Week 4 return since August. If Pouncey isn't quite right next week, the Dolphins could elect to hold him out until after their Week 5 bye.
