Jason Motte (shoulder) struck out two batters over a scoreless inning Monday in his latest minor league rehab appearance with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Motte, who has been out since spring training with a shoulder strain, owns a 3.18 ERA and 5/3 K/BB ratio over 5 2/3 innings during his rehab stint. His next appearance could be with the Rockies.

Khris Davis (forearm) went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his return to the lineup Monday against the Mariners.

Davis was limited to pinch-hitting duties Sunday after leaving Saturday's game with tightness in his right forearm, but he felt well enough to serve as the DH on Monday. He should be ready to return to the outfield soon.

Matt Belisle (calf) tossed a scoreless inning Monday in his first minor league rehab appearance with High-A Potomac.

Belisle, who is working his way back from a right calf strain, gave up one hit and struck out one. He should be back in the Nationals' bullpen in a few days. The veteran right-hander had a 1.50 ERA in seven appearances prior to hitting the DL.

Angel Pagan will undergo an MRI on his left hamstring on Tuesday.

Pagan aggravated the hamstring during Monday's game against the Padres. He managed to avoid the disabled list the first time around, but the Giants could be forced to make a move to add another outfielder to the mix.

Hunter Pence (hamstring) delivered a walk-off pop-up RBI double in Monday's win over the Padres.

It was a ball that should have been caught, but the Giants will take it. Pence has missed three straight starts with a mild right hamstring strain and didn't feel comfortable taking swings in batting practice Monday, but he's not far off.

Jhonny Peralta (thumb) went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored Monday in his third minor league rehab game with Class A Peoria.

Peralta, who is working his way back from thumb surgery, also played six innings at shortstop. He has seen time between shortstop and third base during his minor league rehab assignment, as the Cardinals are preparing to mix and match in their infield when he returns from the disabled list. He appears on track to be activated in early June.

Clint Barmes told Jessica Kleinschmidt of FanDuel that he has decided to retire from baseball.

Barmes made the decision in the middle of a recent game with Triple-A Omaha and was given his release by the Royals on Monday. "Coming back I think I decided I would give Triple-A a little time to help make my decision easier for me as far as having no regrets when I do make that decision," said Barmes. "At this point I can honestly say I can look back and know I don’t have any regrets." Barmes produced a .245/.294/.379 career batting line over 13 seasons to go along with 89 homers and 415 RBI.

Johnny Cueto pitched a two-hit shutout Monday against the Padres to improve to 7-1 on the season.

There's no telling whether his elbow will hold up for the long haul, but Cueto is an elite hurler again following that rough spell in Kansas City. Evading the home run ball has always been his strongest suit, and now that he's in a pitcher's park, rather than hitter friendly Cincinnati, he's doing better than ever, serving up just two long balls in 75 2/3 innings to date this year.
