Orioles manager Buck Showalter said that Bud Norris is not an option to start on short rest Sunday against the Yankees.
Showalter previously floated the idea after Norris threw just four innings on Wednesday, but that's no longer an option. However, it's possible he could be available in relief.
Angels purchased the contract of RHP Drew Rucinski from Double-A Arkansas.
Rucinski, 25, has posted a solid 2.35 ERA and 85/28 K/BB ratio in 95 2/3 innings over 17 starts this season in Double-A. The Angels will likely use him in long relief for his first taste of the majors.
Angels recalled RHP Cory Rasmus from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Rasmus has posted a 3.00 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 15 innings with the Angels this season. He figures to be utilized in middle relief.
Angels optioned RHP Cam Bedrosian to Double-A Arkansas.
Bedrosian just returned to the Angels on Tuesday and made two scoreless appearances during his brief time with the club. The 22-year-old figures to get another shot before long.
Angels designated LHP Nick Maronde for assignment.
The move clears a spot for Drew Rucinski on the 40-man roster. Maronde has had a pair of stints with the Angels this season, allowing nine runs over 6 1/3 innings of work.
Angels placed LHP C.J. Wilson on the 15-day disabled list with a right ankle sprain.
Wilson was knocked around for six runs (three earned) in 3 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays and has a 10.26 ERA over his last four starts, so an injury would explain the struggles. The Angels aren't expected to need their fifth starter again until July 22, so Wilson might only have to miss one start if he makes it back when he's first eligible.
Cardinals recalled C Audry Perez from Triple-A Memphis.
Perez will serve as Tony Cruz's backup with Yadier Molina (thumb) going on the disabled list. We don't expect him to stick around for long, as the Cardinals will likely make a move soon.
Cardinals placed C Yadier Molina on the 15-day disabled list with a right thumb injury.
Molina has been diagnosed with a torn ligament in his thumb and will undergo surgery on Friday. He's expected to miss 8-12 weeks, which could put him out of the mix for the rest of the regular season. The Cardinals figure to look outside of the organization for insurance behind the plate.
