Mike Pelfrey pitched poorly in earning a no-decision against the Twins on Sunday, yielding five runs on eight hits over five-plus innings.

In a contest that won't be shown on an instructional pitching video any time soon, Pelfrey matched Twins starter Ricky Nolasco with five runs allowed. The Twins nicked Pelfrey for a pair of RBI singles in the first inning and would add an additional three runs in the bottom of the fifth -- all of which scored after Pelfrey had left the contest. They counted on the veteran's line anyway. Baseball is a cruel mistress. Avoid avoid avoid in fantasy. A home start against the Rangers shows next on his schedule, though that could end with disastrous consequence given the way Pelfrey has pitched of late.

Yu Darvish (elbow) looked electric in his first minor league rehab start, striking out a pair over two hitless innings at Double-A Frisco.

Darvish walked one in the outing, throwing a total of 32 pitches. He had good life on his fastball, hitting as high as 97 mph on the radar gun, and also was able to command his sharp breaking ball. He's on track for a return to the Rangers rotation at some point in May.

Ricky Nolasco struggled in earning a no-decision against the Tigers on Sunday, surrendering five runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings.

By all rights, Nolasco probably should have been in line for the loss, but Tigers starter Mike Pelfrey proved equally ineffective. The result? Both men took no-decisions. For his part, Nolasco fanned four without walking a batter. The 33-year-old right-hander will take a 4.05 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 28/3 K/BB ratio (33 1/3 innings) into his next outing, a road start against the White Sox.
May 1 - 5:51 PM

Scott Schebler hit a go-ahead RBI double in the 11th inning of Sunday's win over the Pirates.

Schebler didn't start the contest, but came on as a pinch-hitter late. He notched hits in both of his at-bats, with his 11th inning RBI double off Ryan Vogelsong boosting the Reds to a 6-5 lead. That score would stand as the final. He should feel free to bask in the glory of his go-ahead hit, but for fantasy purposes, there is little intrigue here.
May 1 - 5:44 PM

John Jaso hit a game-tying solo home run in the ninth inning of Sunday's 6-5, 11-inning loss to the Reds.

Jaso's solo homer off reliever Ross Ohlendorf came with two outs in the ninth inning and tied the proceedings at 5-all. Alas for the Pirate faithful, that would be the last run to score for the home team. Jaso has now homered in two straight games -- his first two homers of the season, at that. While he is slashing a tidy .306/.375/.471 across 85 at-bats, there is little in his history that would indicate that such a batting line will hold up over the course of the season.
May 1 - 5:39 PM

Didi Gregorius is not in the Yankees starting lineup for Sunday's matchup against the Red Sox.

Gregorius once again will take a seat against a tough opposing left-hander as manager Joe Girardi opts to play the matchups. Ronald Torreyes will start at shortstop for the Yankees and bat eighth on Sunday.
May 1 - 5:32 PM

Jeff Locke earned a no-decision in Sunday's 6-5, 11-inning loss to the Reds, hurling seven innings of three-run ball.

Locke struck out six, walked two and scattered four hits over his seven innings of work. All three runs on his line scored in the sixth inning. The solid outing helped push his once bloated ERA down to a still overweight 4.73. Much of that weight came in an eight-run debacle against the Padres two starts ago. There isn't much fantasy upside here, but Locke will try to keep slimming that earned run mark when he tangos with the Cardinals in St. Louis next time out.
May 1 - 5:32 PM

Brian McCann is not in the Yankees starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

He'll take a seat in favor of Austin Romine, who will bat nine for the Bombers on Sunday night. McCann is off to a solid start at the plate this season, slashing .262/.351/.415 with three homers and seven RBI in his first 19 games.
