Ravens promoted TE Phillip Supernaw from the practice squad.

The third-year undrafted free agent will provide an extra body as the Ravens adjust to life without Dennis Pitta.
Sep 23 - 3:49 PM

Speaking after Tuesday's practice, coach Joe Philbin again declined to endorse Ryan Tannehill as the Dolphins' starter.

"We're going to play the best 46 guys," was Philbin's reply when asked who's starting. Philbin did allow that this week's practices will be taken into account. Although Tannehill has struggled through three games, turning to journeyman Matt Moore is unlikely to be the answer. Philbin needs to try to shed his pass-happy ways before throwing in the towel on Tannehill. Always unimpressive, Philbin's reign as Dolphins coach is threatening to go off the rails.

DeSean Jackson (shoulder) remained "limited" on Tuesday.

The Redskins are just managing D-Jax's reps on a short week after he escaped Sunday's loss without setbacks. He'll be a WR2 against the G-Men for Thursday Night Football.
Sep 23 - 3:23 PM

Giants MLB Jon Beason (toe) returned to practice on Tuesday, getting in a limited session.

Beason was technically "limited" on Monday, but it was just an approximation, as the Giants didn't actually practice. Beason's aggravation of his offseason injury clearly isn't as serious as first feared, but he remains much more likely to return in Week 5 than suit up for Thursday's game against the Redskins. Jameel McClain will again start in his absence if he can't go.
Sep 23 - 3:18 PM

Vernon Davis (ankle) feels "way better," and was walking without a limp on Tuesday.

Coach Jim Harabugh said Monday that the 49ers are "optimistic" Davis will be back for Week 4. Barring a setback, it's appearing quite likely that he will suit up for San Fran's probable shootout with the Eagles. Davis' status will be updated again when the 49ers return to practice on Wednesday.
Sep 23 - 2:52 PM

Speaking Tuesday, Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirmed that Kirk Cousins could remain the team's starting quarterback even after Robert Griffin III (ankle) returns in 6-8 weeks.

"Crazy things have happened in NFL," Gruden said. "I'm not going to discount anything." Gruden is just admitting the obvious, but it's telling he isn't being more diplomatic barely a week after RGIII went down. Gruden was trying to square peg Griffin into a round hole as his quarterback, while Cousins is a perfect fit for what he's trying to do. RGIII owners need to move forward realizing there's a good chance he doesn't start another game this season.
Sep 23 - 2:47 PM

Jaguars waived WR Kerry Taylor.

A journeyman fourth-year undrafted free agent, Taylor had yet to be active this season.
Sep 23 - 2:23 PM

Jaguars signed ILB Jeremiah George and TE Nic Jacobs.

An undrafted free agent out of small-school McNeese State, Jacobs was on the Saints' practice squad. An ex-Jet, George was the No. 154 pick of May's draft. He'll slot in as a reserve linebacker and special teamer for the rebuilding Jaguars.
